h2g2 Punk Society

Welcome to the h2g2 Punk Society. This space aims to act as a centre for a diverse range of people wishing to talk about their favourite music, gigs, bands and zines, and as a place for h2g2 Researchers with an interest in the punk rock genre to meet for a nice informal chat. Talk about your favourite records, plan guide entries, reminisce and generally have a good time.

In the true spirit of diversity, the HPS is a place for both old people to tell charming stories about the 70s, and for perhaps slightly more contemporary people to talk about music in the current day. All music tastes and ideas welcome.

Punks on h2g2

This section aims to provide a nice list of like-minded people on h2g2. If you'd like to be added to the list, then post your name and short description (favourite band, etc) to this thread.
  • Rocket Man - Edits the HPS page, still trying to do a zine, likes pretty much everything and enjoys going to gigs in the Bristol area.
  • skugga - old lady, did a zine in the 80s, still loves to go to gigs and getting run over, loving old-fashioned punk rock, living in Frankfurt/Main (Germany) - are you sure you want to know how old I am? Then visit my space!
  • superdogmonkey - old enough to have seen all the bands first time around, young enough to still kick your arse!
  • shrinkwrapped - straight-edge student from England.
  • psychocandy - 30, from Chicago, USA, and has red hair these days, although it was jet black for a very long time.
  • Greta_9 - likes dressing up as Joey Ramone, more of a post-punker, but has developed a fondness for emo-core recently, mates with the cream of Italian punk.
  • mrsthewife - the best dance band ever are the mighty Killing Joke.
  • Draven - Scottish punk rocker, in a very fast band
  • Number Six - Mod/Punk, likes the Clash, Jam, Buzzcocks, Sex Pistols and Joy Division. London dweller and Plymouth Argyle fan.
  • Purple Moose - likes Warhammer 40k, alabaster and a range of rock music from 'mellow' to punk.
  • Blues Shark - blues, comics, American Football, The Wicker Man, a bit of a muso (of course that's a good thing).
  • Kill That Cat! - Australian straight-edger with green spikey hair!
  • not harmless at all - vegetarian, Canadian punk rocker, girl by day, batman by night.
  • Izzybelle - Swedish parent, likes the Clash, Thåström, Patti Smith, solidarity, good friends and open minds...
  • Em - is thinking about getting a pink streak in her hair, from Scotland, very arty.
  • Chan-Mick le Frog - a French researcher with 1960s-present music tastes.
  • Montse - Ramones fan, Spanish, likes art (Dali, Basquait), Teenage Fanclub and the Velvet Underground.
  • Lady Lowena - in the early eighties she used to walk around wearing a silk dressing gown, black bikers' boots, skin tight black jeans, a tiny tartan skirt and quite often a pork pie hat.

Entries

There's a rather small amount of punk rock entries in the Edited Guide at the moment, which is sad. It would be nice if we could fill some of those gaps in the future, Guide Entries on some of the earlier bands (Ramones, Clash, Sex Pistols) wouldn't go amiss.

New to the h2g2 Punk Society: Record, Zine and Book Reviews. If you have anything to add to this collaborative effort, see this thread

Journal Entries

This is where any Journal Entries would appear, if this Researcher had made any. Unfortunately they haven't managed to write anything, which is a shame because their Journal is where they could tell everyone what they've been up to. Is your Journal empty too? If so, this is how it'll appear to other Researchers who visit your Personal Space.
