I'm a newcomer here, but I thought I'd write a few words, thereby laying myself open to "attack" from the ACEs. I hope I'll be allowed to expand on this information later. 
My nickname  beard(grey) tells you a lot. Unlike (I assume) the majority of researchers, I'm the 'wrong' side of 42 (actually closer to the true answer to THE 'question' "What is 9 x 6 ?"). I am facially hirsute and professionally connected with nautical pursuits.
I live & work on the south coast of England (though my surname originated in East Anglia), but we try to spend as much of the winter as possible in the Caribbean. My two daughters are now adult, but my son (from marriage #2) is not yet 5.
My interests include (but are not limited to): sailing (particularly catamarans), motorbikes (I'm already a member of MHMC [thanks, Bad   ]), kayaking, genealogy, cycling (not racing), naturism & naturalism, humanism, keeping fit (and failing miserably  ).
Maybe this will whet somebody's appetite. 
Once I've come to grips with GuideML, then I hope to improve this entry.
