| | About me | |
Welcome to my personal space. My hootoo name reflects my enduring attraction for Australia, the land I'd love to call home. Having spent the last 12 years travelling to Japan, Australia, Hong Kong and Australia again, I have once more left England's paved and unpleasant land for a somewhat financially driven job in the Middle East where I will be teaching English. It may help me to gather together enough money to return to Australia, or failing that NZ where a number of Aussie bound poms rest their heads and kick their heels. One thing that life has taught me though is to accept whatever is thrown at you and work through it as best you can. I have written articles on such diverse subjects as Sumo, Writing to Celebrities, Tony Greig, Jon Pertwee and A Christmas Carol. My entries tend to come in fits and starts depending on what RL is throwing at me!! I have 4 children and wrote an article about being a househusband that caused uproar as people vehemently agreed or disagreed with it!! Despite that reaction I think it was one of the best entries I have written, and has been an object lesson in keeping my cool as reactions are posted!! If any newer writers are reading this, my best piece of advice would be not to take any such criticism personally even if thats what it looks like on the screen. This is a friendly community and any disagreements are often down to misunderstandings. Remember, post in haste, repent at leisure!!

Yes folks!! After an eighteen month absence that has seen an entirely coincidental fall in EG quality, SBE is back on the front page!! My 24th edited entry is based on the Aussie soap that gave me my name, 'Home and Away'. Now for that badge!! SBE

I'll make this short and sweet. I've got a job in Saudi Arabia teaching English. It's a 2 year stint in the first place followed by an open ended contract, but given that I'm leaving my wife and kids behind for the first time in nearly 12 years I can't see it going much longer. Obviously it is lucrative otherwise I wouldn't be doing it. The plan as those of you who know me will not be surprised to hear is to make one more try to emigrate to Australia. Failing that it will be eminently possible that NZ will be the next port of call. Wish me luck. I may need it if my charm, good looks, intelligence and modesty don't work!!!! SBE (saudi bounty earner!!)
