Around the corner comes softly creeping...

Hmm. Maybe the neighbours have moved out and will leave me alone now... Bugger me. I've forgotten how to use this thing. Where'd I put those manuals??

Bi-annual Reunion
Apr 11, 2006

Two years. Two years and two months to be exact.

That's how long it has been since I last set foot in these hallowed halls. I don't regret leaving, and I certainly don't think it was the wrong thing to do. But it's a surprise that it was really that long ago. How time flies when you're busy.

What have I done with myself since last I tread these boards?

I left Sydney, and moved back home to Adelaide.

My boyfriend moved over from England and became my Husband.

We moved into a house all on our own, and I've been working at my current job now for nearly 2 years (come this May).

I still haven't got my driver's licence. At 22 that's disgraceful. I should be ashamed. But I'm not.

So I work night shift with a job that allows me pretty liberal internet access. What to do in the dead of the night, when I've read the forums I normally read and have no more webcomics or gossip columns to peruse?

I really need something to read. Let's see what new articles have been added in the 2(??Two whole) years since I left here...

That's it...
Jan 11, 2004

...I've had jack of this.

First I have some retard coming to my user space and telling me I shouldn't write about myself because it's boring. Then I get told off by his little parade of sycophants when I call him for the moron that he is and tell him to get the hell out of my user space. Apparently it's not 'nice' to tell someone they're a moron, but it's perfectly 'nice' for them to tell a person that their own space on the web is boring and stupid.

Not to mention I was being told off by a group of people who seemed to lack the fundamental ability to use a shift key or to spell basic words.

Firking digiboxers. Since they've arrived at Hootoo, it's slid into a cesspit of retardedness. I'm not going to wax lyrical about the old days, because nostalgia always looks best in hindsight. But there's no denying that their moronic prattle and illiterate keyboard hammerings have brought a certain aspect of aol-tardedness to what was previously an intelligent, thoughtful and silly but fun place to be on the 'net.

Silliness is one thing. "LOLOLOL OMG UR SO FUNY CN NE1 HLEP ME IM A MORON GRRR UR SO MEEN BE NICE U SHULD BE NICE ASL?????!1!!!!!!111lLOLOL" is another. And whilst there were linguistically challenged persons in Hootoo before the age of the Digi'tards, they were of the minority. Most people at least put some damned effort into their posting instead of slamming their palms down on the keyboard in some simianistic manner.

And yes, there's exceptions to the rule. Intelligent, literate people who are/were digiboxers. But by Christ they're in the minority. And it's telling.

So the long and the short of it is this - I've made the decision to leave hootoo. If I wanted to hang around a flock of retards who couldn't write a proper sentence if you sat down and wrote it out for them and then told them to copy it verbatim into the entry, then I'd go to AOL or Yahoo or some other 'tard haven on the web. But hootoo isn't supposed to be like that.

So I'm going. I don't need the aggravation. Someone call me when the morons have left the building, please.

Whatever shall I do, wherever shall I go?
Nov 21, 2003

Five weeks since my last journal entry. There's really very little that draws me to update/contribute much here at the moment. I pop on for a while, go through a few conversations, sometimes read what's on the front page, then sod off again.

I find myself getting slightly bitter, too. To put it bluntly, it seems the quota of stupid in these parts has risen exponentially in the last few months. Not to say that Hootoo should be a nirvana only for those of a certain intellectual standard, because it should rightly be for everyone. But Jesus, can't people at least make an effort? Or is trying to communicate legibly and make sense just too damned hard?

Obviously it is.

And as an aside, if you're going to pipe up with the 'it dusnt mater wot u rite as long as u cn unndersand it' bullshite, you can just fcuk right off right now. You're illiterate, you're stupid, and you can get the hell out of my journal.

AM I LOGGED IN YET?
Oct 13, 2003

So I open HooToo this morning. There's funny BBC links at the top of my page. WTF? I have to sign in? I click the button "Sorry, we're having problems". I click again "Sorry...". I click again "Sorry". I follow the "Register" link in the sidebar. I find the "Login" link there. I jump through all the F*CKING hoops and get the confirmation email. I try to go back to Hootoo. "Sorry...". I try again. I get logged in to my space. I try to go to feedback to LET THEM KNOW IT'S BLOODY WELL BROKEN, IRRITATING AND A PAIN IN THE DONKEY. I get the "You have to be logged in to post" message. I THOUGHT I WAS BLOODY WELL LOGGED IN YOU RETARDED MACHINE!
