| | Introducing myself | | I spent a happy first week learning the ropes, and sharing some of my thoughts with you - and getting super super replied. And then, wham! bam! I clicked the last icon on the toolbar and gone forever (so I thought) were my new friends, and latest outside intellectual stimulation. Thank goodness I have managed to return, although with a different research number (still the same me!!) and I am debating whether I can call myself Also Ran1 as my new nickname? Hope so. As you can gather, I am a rather befuddled septugenarian, trying to keep up with the techonological revolution, and having some problems!!. But (as an excuse I fear) I wonder how many of you have worked on the old-fashioned computers where one had to insert cards (no chips available then) and how many of you saw the first autogyro (old name for helicopter) flying at Le Touquet in 1933? Well I did, and still marvel at the strange craft that rose vertically into the air. I I have many interests, work hard although confined to a wheelchair, and have lots of friends. I am inclined to get quite obsessive about overcoming difficulties and had a dreadful time trying to restablish connections with h2g2. I fear that if it happens again I shall have to call it a day because at my stage of life I simply do not have the time to spend trying to get something which should be relatively uncomplicated, right. In fact time at my stage of life is the most precious commodity I have and I still have so much to do. I was a mature student in the seventies and managed to graduate with a Masters degree in the Sociology of Law. I loved research and spent hours in the various libraries of the universities and town I was living in, trying, as a phenomenologist, to offer some ray of hope to what seemed to be an insoluble social problem. My other interests are music, gardening, and watching skiing and political debats on TV. I do hope that I shall be able to restablish contact with the Dancer, the Paper Lady and Mr. Lurcher who were very kind and helpful to me last week. Well, I hope that I manage to do it this time. A bientot.

I would like to wish all Franciscan a happy Feast Day tomorrow the 4th October.
He is such a splendid person, and really made such a difference to the life of the Church and of the world that it is good to remember him.
With Franciscan affection,

Life is just a dream.. singing and dancing, happily and merrily, Sep 1, 2003
What a difference fourteen tablets of anti-biotics can make!!.
Here I am - I have been up for well over three hours - (it is now nearly 0700 GMT)
Yesterday I was able to work in the kitchen, picking up things - mostly without dropping them!!) moving pots pans etc. etc. without gloves on. The first time in years. This of course means that my hands are getting better - in fact I would say 80% better. I am trying to be careful with my heart diet so that the angina and high blood pressure will be kept hidden - low and active but no longer menacing - and so Bob's your uncle - the old girl is up and about.
So much to do - and so little time. The living room looks really great - I just need the blinds to arrive - The marvelllous hanging baskets bought at the garden show in Tonbridge way back in April are still extraordinarily magnificent. They were worth every penny that I paid for them. I must contact the garden centre that made them at Faversham. The begonias are quite the most brilliant, shining and optimistic colour of yellow I have ever seen. Soft, silky and yet eye-startinly riveting.
Today I am even inclined to do some things I should have done yoincks ago - like getting my licence for my car. I have the insurance, I have the MOT but do you think I can get to the post office with all the goodies in hand - at the same time? But today is the day.
I sm so worried about darling Pandora. If anyone has news please do post it.
Hopimg this finds everyone as it leaves me. Well, happy and bursting (even if rather feebly!!) with life.
Happy labor Day to those friends across the pond.
Ooops !! It's catching!! Aug 29, 2003
I have just received news from our inimitable Pandora - the Born again Tart with long black plaits U171729.
She sends you all her apologises for not being able to combine a really bad infection with bright breezy bonhomie and happy talk, and is threatening to do dire things to her doctor if he DARES to put her into hospital where she apparently should be.
So dear friends rally round - send her a laughing message on a wing and a prayer. Tell her that - oh well you know what to say. Also she would like us to say a prayer for her niece who is having a MRI scan.
She asked me to post this on her page but I could'nt so I hope that all her friends see this.
She sends you all her (with suitable embilishements!!) and hopes to be able to soon be well enough to look at a computer screen,
"The go- between"- I wish I could write as beautifully as she does!! AR1
Not a 100% Aug 27, 2003
Hi my friends, Just a brief note to say that I am not feeling 100% - in fact I feel about 25 %.
It's a kidney infection apparently and also I suppose that my body is feeling the strain of having been taken off my heart medication which I had had for nearly ten years.
I shall write again as soon as I can wheel myself around without my head swimming and bursting out into a wretched running sweat. Fond

SUCCESS - AT LAST Aug 15, 2003
Thank you to all the the wonderful people who have helped to re-establisah me on this most special of web sites.
I hesitate to mention them all by name, but from the top down, I am most grateful for helping me to get back into contact with all you wonderful people.
And now exhausted with the efforts of the last few days I am crawling off to my pit.
all round and whatever else you would like. I shall bake a tomorrow.
Fondest anjd sweet dreams and I do hope thaat all of you in North America and Canada will have power tonight. I really felt for you last night.
I also hope that the wretched people who are aiming to skew up the international computer company wilol not succeed.
AR1
