Well, I don't know what to say.
Prudence is still great. I love looking after her. Her Mum loves looking after her.
Life isn't perfect - but that's life!

Three Wonderful Months Aug 1, 2006
Well, here we are, three months down the line, and Pru has already grown and changed so much!
She laughs all the time now (we love to see her nose wrinkle in glee!) and has recently taken to grabbing hold of anything she can lay her beautifully delicate little hands on. She has also developed a nosey streak, constantly wanting to crane around to see what is going on behind her (rather like a dog chasing it's tail, sometimes!). She's going to be a handful, we are sure.
Most people say "Oh, is it really three months already? It's gone so quickly!" - yet to me life before Prudence seems like a distant memory.
She is a joy to be with (as well as a Joy to be with!), and every night it still feels like a privilege to get to hold her and smell her and see that smile; which more and more is the most important thing in my life.
Recently, I found myself close to tears as I stood near her cot (yes, she outgrew the Moses basket weeks ago!) and she squeaked in a tiny voice that seemed to hint of some slight discomfort. God help me if anything *really* causes her any pain or suffering. I don't think I could take it.
As children, I don't think we can ever really realise how our parents see us. How could we understand that they had stood over us as tiny infants and dreamt of our future lives. Now, it seems as if the feeling of independent existence that accompanies my earliest memories was just an illusion. And I finally understand that even now, when my mum looks at me, a part of her will only ever see the tiny baby in the cot in 1974.
Yes, parenthood is a real eye-opener!

Daddy Doodles May 3, 2006
Well, I guess if I'm ever to have anything worth recording in this here 'journal', this is it!
2 days ago - at 15:45 on Monday 01.05.06 - my life changed forever when my little (or not so little, weighing in at 7lb15oz) daughter was born.
Prudence Joy.
The day was unforgettable - and of all the unforgettable moments of that day, seeing her head come out from the warmth of her mother's womb was the most moving experience of my life.
I don't really know what else to say.
But I am still walking on air - enjoying every moment of daddydom (even the struggle to stay awake at 4.30am last night whilst Pru's mum finally got some rest!)
A few years ago, I would have frowned upon the notion that I might ever be the father of a baby girl - today it seems the most natural thing in the world!
I owe a great deal to Pru's mum - Thankyou, I love you.
