The Synthetic Drey. Rarely updated.

Warning: This page is often updated really badly, generally new bits are added, while the original text remains unchanged, this can lead to some confusion, but hey! What you gonna do?

Hello, welcome to my space, pull up a chair, spark up a ciggy and crack open a can from the fridge. Or don't, I mean, it's not compulsory or anything, I'm just trying to be polite here. Thought I'd better explain myself a little better. So here's a little information about me.

About the Plastic Squirrel.

Unlike a certain well-known literary character, I am not from a small planet somewhere in the vicinity of betelgeuse, but am in fact, from Guildford, but I live in the sunny paradise of Bideford in North Devon, and have done for ages. I can still say I'm in my early twenties for at least another 5 months or so, but afterwards I will start to lie about my age. I've been a professional musician since I was just 15 years old, and so have spent a lot of time either unemployed or doing other jobs to make money between gigs. Currently I've been between gigs for about a year and a half, so it's a lot like calling yourself an artist, know what I mean?
Have recently taken up the sport of cross dressing here on h2g2, and now sport a floopy dress, a pair of Army boots, a fez, and Batty may yet succeed in the propellor bra, but I hope not. It's always fun, will keep you updated on the subject of the dresses and stuff, there was a good reason for it once, but I forget now. Oh yeah, and contrary to what some will say, I AM NOT A PERMED SQUIRREL!!
I've finally bowed down to peer pressure, you can now see what I look like, and read loads of dull info about me here.

Me on h2g2

Agh! A pigeon! Kill it! Kill it! KILL IT NOW!
Anyhow, here on h2g2, I've only gone and become the official tormentor of pigeons, seagulls and other assorted birdlife of the Campaign to rename Thursday Thing, which on the whole seems to have been a good move. May join some other places, may not. Gave some serious thought to joining the procrastinators recently, but didn't get round to it. I've been putting off writing anything useful here for a while, but now I'm supposed to be recording this new CD that I've been writing, and working on for the past year, I thought it was time I did this (funny that). I've updated it again as well, supposed to be writing at the moment, so that explains it. Still haven't joined the procrastinators, plum forgot all about it. Have now. Just got round to putting it up here.
Okay, am now an official Procrastinator
Also the Keeper of Elvis Impersonations
And an h2g2 Freak (but only cos I had to press the button)
And a very, very proud member of the Anti-Abba Society
And the High Priest of the Church of the Holy Tail (which I started for Batty and must get around to building sometime)I've built it now!!
I have been known to do a little undercover work for the Anti-Squirrel League in my spare time.
I recently acquired a team of Jedi Badgers, and entered them in Oblivion's mutant games you could have a team of mutants too! Wahey!
I'm now part of the wonderful United Friends of h2g2 space as well. Are you?

Looky a Spork!!!!

Well it worked on Lifson's test page anyway!!!

Go see a Thingite, you might like them. (yes I know, I should have put this list up about 5 months ago but you know how it gets....)

Nice places to visit.

I'm often to be found at Planet-Tolkien Where I earnt the title Community fiend at one point. As a complete Tolkien nut, I can heartily recommend it as the best place on the net for other Tolkien nuts.
If you want to hear some really funny music (don't let your kids listen though, it's pretty sick stuff) then you can find my old band Lean Against The Washing Machine here. It's pretty funny, but about 6 years old now.
Or another old band, which is far more tasteful is The Dagobah System highly recommended.
Or for what I'm doing now, without all the tedious link following that you'd have to do from my main site, go to Plastic Squirrel's Tunes page and be unamazed, or amazed, you never know!

That's pretty much it for now!

Anyhow, that's all I can think of, except to say that I don't need to get any wolves off anybody as I already have one here (well, a German Shepard-Labrador cross, but it's close) The legendary nearlywolf, Rambo, who says hi. So there you go, see you around. Will put some more stuff here, like links etc when I get round to it. Oh, if you get the time, feel free to give me a welcome break in the Spam by e-mailing me at plasticsquirr11@hotmail.com. If you need to know more then visit Squirrelworld Where you can listen to my music, read my rantings and ravings, and look at my stuff. No pics of me cos I refuse to put them anywhere (don't want to scare any kids out there).

Handy gadget, use it

Well, time to explain I suppose.
Oct 14, 2002

Okay, you may have noticed I've hardly been online at all of late. I'm terribly sorry, but you have to prioritise. A lot of you may think it's just because I have a girlfriend again, but this is not the case at all. Well, it is a contributing factor, but not the whole story. The fact is I'm just way too busy, every time I get myself online these days, it takes the best part of 3 or 4 hours to get through near enough everything I used to do on here, so something had to give. Unfortunately, it turned out to be h2g2 that had to give. As I don't have 3 or 4 hours to spare anymore.
Basically, I have 3 bands on the go at the moment, plus I have planet-tolkien to work on, and a job to keep down, and my own music to write and record, and my writing to get done, plus a dog to look after, and a girlfriend to see, and her kids to look after every now and then, oh yeah, and sometimes it's kinda nice to sit in front of the TV or listen to a bit of music and read a book now and then.
So I'm rather busy as you can guess. However, you'll be pleased to know that life is pretty damn good apart from being so very busy. Me and Netty are very happy together still, and planning to get a house together, all 3 bands I'm in are actually doing things I want to be doing for once, the music I'm working on myself is probably the best stuff I've ever done, and very, very scary. And life is good.
Hopefully, I'll be able to stop by every now and then still, but this may well be it for me on here as I don't know if I can fit it in to my life. Sorry. What can I say, it's been a blast, stay in touch guys, I might just miss you.

Getting there I think.
Aug 14, 2002

Since my last fevered rantings, I have taken decisive action and left the band. WOOHOO! I feel so much better, it turned out nearly everyone else was feeling much the same way, so we all quit at the same time. After another nightmare gig at the weekend, which was supposed to be huge, and was in fact tiny and crap.
Have started another band already with the bass player from the last one, we've just found a drummer and we're gonna go out and play evil loud rock music again, like it should be.
Also gonna do a money spinner with the old vocalist playing lounge music in a cheesey duo, should bring in the cash.
For those of you interested in my ever growing romance, she met my parents this weekend. All went well, they like her, things are good.
However, the tale of this weekend is not good, here are the highlights:
1) Not being able to find the field the gig was meant to be in for hours.
2) Realising that the field with nobody in and a rather small tent was the right one.
3) Playing with a bunch of muppets for 2 hours and wanting to kill them all as I had to do all the work once again.
4) Watching my breath condense in front of my face in August.
5) Sleeping in a tent on the bumpiest ground you ever did feel having kicked a can of Stella over in it earlier.
6) Waking up in said tent to see that the rain has decided to never stop ever.
7) Spending 3 hours wishing we could just leave while waiting for people in tent blocking car's exit to get up and go.
8) Car breaking down a good 25 miles from home. (luckily an AA man came past about 2 minutes after this happened, how fortuitous!)
9) Having to rush to get car back to girlfriends, then get back to mine on a bus, and sort out a way of getting her back again later for when the kids got back from their dads.
10) Only getting to sit down and relax for about 10 minutes all day sunday after practically no sleep and a b*tch of a hangover.

So you can see, it's been fun!

Where to start?
Aug 8, 2002

Well, lots of news I think. I know, I'll do a list.

1) I'm going to be Uncle Plastic Squirrel soon. No, I'm not bringing the old nickname nicking game back, my brother's having a baby (well his Fiance is, but you get the picture).

2) I've quit the duo I was playing in, as the guy who I was doing it with is an alcoholic stonehead, and doesn't know it (trust me I know the signs). After his performance over the weekend I shall not be playing with him ever again, I have never been made to look so crappy and unprofessional in my life. He's a total ****. However he is also in the 5 piece band I play in, and his future is being decided there by me and the girl who sings for us (who I might be branching off and doing a better duo with). Things look bad for him, really.

3) I've fallen for my new girly completely, there had to be some really good news here somewhere. Trying to persuade her to move closer to me so I can see her more now. We were supposed to get a whole week together next week, but the people her kids were going to stay with can't look after them now. We just found out yesterday. Not happy, not happy at all. But their Dad's going to take them to Blackpool for a week later in the month now, so it's not all bad.

4) I haven't got any work done in so long it's not funny. Heh! You know what it's like....

Spidey sense
Jul 30, 2002

2 quick things I need to say, one I got bit by a spider which turned out to not be radioactive, so I am still not Spiderman and am therefore no nearer achieving my lifetime's ambition.
2, I watched the spidey movie again the other day (only about the 9th time) and noticed the coolest thing, Stan Lee is in the bit with the collapsing building saving a little girl from falling rubble, how ******** cool is that?

So why haven't I been about then?
Jul 7, 2002

Well, some of you around here know why I've not been online much, and some more of you may have guessed. I shall now admit it, I gots me a woman, so I've been kinda busy, if you know what I mean.
Just thought I'd let you all know I'm stupidly happy about it, and as an example of how great she is, I shall tell you that she bought me a huge flag type thing that just happened to be a 1982 Spiderman comic cover (one of my all time favourite issues featuring the Green Goblin himself) which covers most of my living room wall now. How cool is that? Massively, and she keeps coming up with stuff that I haven't told her I'm into but she just kinda knows.
You may have to just bear with me for a while here, I may be somewhere else, even when I am here.
