Vintermann

Hi, my name is Harald and I go by the name Vintermann. Insead of writing how old I am, I write that I was born the 27. August 1981 - that saves me updating. I am currently a student at Høgskolen i Ålesund, as well as the University of Oslo :-)

Feel free to write to me! I have an adress on the cyber-rights.net server, my nick is vintermann. I like crypto, so it's OK to encrypt it. If I've lost my keys again and can't decrypt I'll tell you :-)

About me, I consider myself an evangelical christian. I have strong convictions in some areas, one of them is that I won't use alcohol or narcotics. I am a member of the organisation "Juvente", a diverse gathering of young people who don't drink. While we're at it, I am also a member of ATTAC.

The kind of things I like are, in no particular order, ice-tea, dance-dance-revolution, peace, quiet, reflection, animé, good food and (non-alcoholic) drink, long walks when the weather is nice, preferrably with my girlfriend

I am trying to contribute to the guide, my current project is about pacifism.

My cellist sister has turned up on H2G2, so from now on I'll have to be more careful about what I write :-). She goes by the name Miranda here.

It's been almost a year since I wrote something here! It's for good reasons, I have much to do, I'm getting married!

But that's all I can write for now, I have to get some glasses mended!

My sister alerted me to John Luke who wanted to debate pacifism. Getting to say what I want to say isn't easy, but that is the same for all of us I suppose.

Will now look for these Kaiser people. I'm not suprised that Jostein knows those guys...

If someone starts writing a quaker article, I got to be there - the "peace testament" article was OK, but could have been influenced a little more by Christocentric friends. Writing an article about quakers in the writing style of liberal quakers will give the wrong impression to a lot of people.

Yay!! My pacifism article is on the front page! Today I am officially a published guide researcher.
It's fascinating (and sometimes a bit scary) to look at the changes the editors have made. It MAY have been just me but I'm pretty sure none of these showed up on the article when it was pending. They had linked to an article by a mennonite about mennonites, and that was scary in that that article was um, a wee bit more well-researched and extensive than mine. Sad to say, I hadn't checked all the facts so good as I should have, but miraculously it didn't have any serious disagreements with the Mennonite article. It was also a little scary that they had added "in Ireland" to "munster" when I was thinking about the Munster in Germany (should perhaps be Münster by the way, but I think Munster is an official english spelling or something, sort of like "Naples" for Napoli.

They also took a pair of footnotes and put them up into the text as paretheses, OK with me. I am just so used to putting my digressions in parentheses that I have recieved complaints on it before. I must have gotten better on the parenthesis thing then. (Have you noticed the parenthesis thing? (Perhaps not)(I struggle to not nest them, even.(Would that be recusive parenthesing??)))

But anyway, it's just "wow".

Hmmm, yes, Christian is back in Norway and Oniyuri means "Tiger Lily". The name was apparently the result of a dictionary-browsing... That plant ceratinly doesn't grow in Norway so I don't know it's name. Let's just say "tigerlilje". (I'm testing how many foreign words H2G2 will let me print tongueout )

Ugh, it's already too late to start on a new aricle. I thought about writing one on "Jante's law - the dark side of egalitarianism"... Shouldn't take too much of time to research, and it's a very useful cultural expression we have in Norway and Denmark.

Expressions that say something that can't otherwise be easily said should be exported as soon as possible. That's why I want to get Seinfeld's "Soup Nazi" (that would be "suppenazist" in norwegian) into our language. We need a term to describe those people who have great power over some little, pathetic part of our lives, and yet abuse it for all they're worth.

I don't know why school bus drivers leap to mind (Ok, actually I do).

Diary 27. November 2001

This is the last day before my exam in mathemathics. Subeditor says he has already passed on my article, that´s great! wonder how long it will take before it shows up on the front page...
Time to get started on another article. Should it be about the hospital? Perhaps not. I´ll do a search for some things, oh, just like Java, mathematics and these potato guns Johannes talked about. Grundtvik was an idea...

That reminds me, I should send a mail to Soia!

Also, Christian has still not told me what Oniyuri means. I assume it can´t be something too silly, but I don´t get why he doesn´t reply.

Heh, you can see which of my texts are typed on the Mac at bjørknes, because the ´s are the wrong direction... what on earth is the point f having a different keyboard layout, Macintosh??
