I'm a biologist, evolutionary in nature.
I'm English, but I live in California.
I really shouldn't be here right now, but doing something else.

So I just had an eye exam today - the kind where they dilate your pupils so that when you walk outside the world (a bright Southern California one at that) burns through the back of your head. Good job they gave me some ridiculous plastic, rollup wraparound shades.
So here I am. My vision slowly returning to normal, sitting in my darkened flat. Can't work in the lab for another 3 hours so I thought I'd do some h2g2ing. I havent had much time recently. This place is great, especially in the day when everyone else I know is working. Ha!

So here I am sat in an Econolodge on the old Route 66 in Barstow, California using their free wireless net listening to Aphex Twin. Weird.
10.50pm. Me and the Missus were sleeping but some idiot was knocking on all the doors on this floor of the motel to find his friend. Asshat.
Onwards to Sedona, AZ and the Grand Canyon for New Year!
I got an iPod for xmas. It's lovely. Makes roadtrips a lot more fun too when the passenger can DJ.

Ok. This is the coolest, potentially most useful bit of software I have ever seen:

My cellphone now has Google maps on it. This could be a life-saver.
I love Google. I really do.
