Welcome to my space!

Hi! Welcome to my space. I'm not entirely sure what to do with so I guess I'll start by telling you a bit about me. As you may have guessed, my name is Jeny, and I'm usually to be found in the frozen north of Scotland (Aberdeen to be exact). I migrated up here a few years ago from Yorkshire to come to university, and basically never left. I've now finished my degree (and have the letters after my name to prove it biggrin . I'm currently working my way through another one, which is the best way I can think of to avoid getting a proper job, with the advantage that I can get away with spending far too long online online2long

What are the things that I enjoy? Well, I'm not a bad cook - my life ambition is to open a restaurant bubbly coffee hotdog strawberries I'm also a keen roleplayer - that's the Dungeons and Dragons type magic monster . I'm currently rated 3rd in the Scottish Open for D & D, and I'm really getting into the Starwars game as well.

My other interests include reading just about anything I can get my hands on. I first read DNA's work when I was about 8, and haven't stopped re-reading it since.

I've been a member of H2G2 for quite a while, but it's only recently that I've started to take an active interest in it. Some of my posts have been used in collaborative entries - the whole section on student dinner parties in the 'Planning a Dinner Party' entry is mine! As yet I haven't though of something that I feel knowledgeable enough about to write an entry for it.

I'm hoping to adopt a fish from the Fish Adoption Scheme. I don't know what sort he's going to be, but I'm going to call him Fred. Whilst I'm waiting to hear about my fish, I've adopted a flock of sheep I found wandering around sheep sheep sheep sheep sheep sheep sheep sheep sheep sheep sheep

I haven't gotten around to giving them all names yet, so any suggestions are welcomed.

On H2G2 I have the honour of being an official member of the Scottish Researcher's Group, and the Queen fan club. I've also been appointed as a Faculty member to the University of Mice. As you may have guessed, I'm the Professor of Cheesology. I'm also a member or SPAM, the H2G2 society dedicated to the removal of erroneous apotrophes wherever they are found. Join today and campaign for proper punctuation!

16th November - A momentous occasion!
Nov 16, 2001

Momentous indeed! Not only is Harry Potter released (although I already saw a preview last week), but I finally managed to get my introduction written in GuideML. I'm very proud of this achievement - I've been playing about with it for weeks and finally it makes sense. Having mastered the basics - paragraphs and smileys, my next task is to try and put in some links. Wish me luck!

17th October
Oct 17, 2001

Just realised that I haven't updated my journal for a while, not that I have a huge amount going on on my life!

The cat is still with us, and still called Archie. I think she's a permanent addition to the family now. I'm not sure if I'm ready for the responsiblity biggrin

Things are not going well at work - I'm not happy with the way my project is going, but getting hold of my supervisor is ike trying to nail fog. I'm spending far too long just messing about, which I can't afford to waste, but until I get authorisation to do the stuff that I want to do, I'm stuck. Seriously wondering if I should just chuck the whole thing in.

25th September
Sep 25, 2001

It looks like the cat may be staying - we've had it a week and no one seems to want to claim it. He is actually a she, but is remaining Archie, because she's got used to it.

Not a lot else happening - realised that my wedding is now less than 6 months away, and I feel I maybe ought to be panicking more than I really am. On the other hand, I'm not sure what I should be panicking about, so I might not bother!

19th September - A new cat!
Sep 19, 2001

Much excitement yesterday when leaving the house to go to work - a stray cat was lurking outside the house, and wouldn't go away. Took it in, and posted notices in case anyone wanted to claim it.

As yet, no one has come forward, so it looks like we may have to adopt it, which is nice.

It's a small ginger tabby - I reckon about a year old and very cute. We're going to call him Archibald if he's a boy (archie for short) after Archibald the Fourth Earl of Douglas. If it's a girl, then she'll be called Guinevere.

17th September - My fun weekend!
Sep 17, 2001

I think I've finally recovered from this weekend. It started pretty much on Thursday when we went out from work to say goodbe to Joel and Anna, who were leaving. I didn't have much to drink (3 glasses red wine) but woke up on Friday feeling really bad headhurts Finally realised at about 2.30 that it wasn't just a hangover, but the start of a cold, which has been passed from person to person for the past 2 weeks. Spent the rest of the day feeling ill and taking far too much Lemsip.

Had people coming round on Friday that we couldn't cancel, and they just wouldn't leave, until after 11.00.

Went out Saturday night and didn't drink too much. However Andy (fiance) did, because it was his birthday. He crawled home at 3.40am (I went home early to go to bed, but stayed up waiting for him) and collapsed in a drunken stupor. I spent all of Sunday (his actual birthday) nursing him through his hangover hangover .

Slept in this morning (monday) and didn't get to work until 9.50. Didn't do any actual work until 2.00, but am now at least feeling awake. Going to go and be slightly productive for a bit.
