Thank you for visiting my Personal Space. I have been around here1 for quite a while (since Jun 14, 2000, to be exact). I have been a member of some of those splendid folks who do a lot of work for the Guide and the Community:
My coded background:

What are my interests? Just have a look at the Entries I have written so far. They give you a rather good overview of what I'm interested in:
- Panamint Springs, Death Valley, California, USA
- Medical Jargon
- Ten Essentials of Outdoor Survival
- Global Positioning System (GPS)
- Alcatraz, San Francisco, California, USA
- Recreational Vehicles vs Cars When Travelling Across the USA
- Public Key Cryptography in Today's Communication
- Passau, Bavaria, Germany
- Joshua Tree National Park, California, USA
- Arches National Park, Utah, USA
- Wirtshaus 'Zum Grunen Baum' (Green Tree Tavern), Passau, Bavaria, Germany
These are all the Edited Entries that I have written. I also contributed to some others:
All the other Entries that are listed as Most Recent Edited Entries were not written by me. I just had the pleasure to be the Subeditor for those fine pieces of work.
Oh, yes: Making music is one of my favorite occupations. That's why I am a legitimate member of the h2g2 Musicians Guild. You don't believe me? Here and here's the proof. Will you meet me very often? Unfortunately, you won't. My real life has reduced my spare time dramatically, so I won't have much time to take part in that wonderful community life. I regret that deeply, as I have met some wonderful people here. It would be very impolite to mention some of them and leaving out others, ant this page is too short to mention them all. Just feel free to browse through my conversations, and you'll find out whom I mean. The Muses' Campfire Oh, yes, before I forget it: I founded the Muses' Campfire, which is a very nice place to hang out, calm down, chill out, play some unplugged music, eat some steaks, have some . Feel free to drop in there ... 1 'here' has changed quite a bit since I moved in. I haven' moved at all, but the site has changed from a weird and whacky h2g2 to a ever more serious DNA-family of sites, starting with h2g2, continuing with '360' and finishing(?) with 'places'.

It saddens my heart to hear that Compay Segundo, the charming cigar-smoking guitar-playing gentleman from Havana, Cuba, well known from Wim Wenders' movie "Buena Vista Social Club" and Benny Carter, jazz legend since the golden days of the big band era have passed away, both aged 95.
Two more greats to join the heavenly jam session ...
Jeremy
Compared to what??? Apr 22, 2003
I browsed through my CD collection just a couple of days ago and found a record by Les McCann & Eddie Harris: "Swiss Movement". The first track is called "Compared to what". The lyrics (as far as I get them) are really interesting and absolutely up-to-date, considering that the record dates back to 1969.
I'm afraid I won't be allowed to post the lyrics here, but if anyone has the record, listen to it ...
Goodbye, Mr. Gates ... Jan 1, 2003
This is my first Journal Entry written on a Linux machine. I am going to get rid of everything that is tagged Microsoft ASAP. Should've done that much earlier ...
h2g2 isn't *THAT* useless ... Sep 3, 2001
Some weeks ago I applied for a job in another department of the municipality I work for. I really *wanted* to have that job, but there was some serious competition.
It came down to the knowledge of written and spoken English. I said: "I speak and write English fluently. The others said "So do we." I said: "But I have written articles for the BBC!!!!!"
Needless to say that I got the job!!
YAY!!!
It's been four weeks now ... Apr 18, 2001
... that I'm having three badges on my personal space. I must say that being a Sub-Editor is the toughest job so far. I causes more work, takes more time and is generally more difficult (esp. when it comes to working on Entries that have excellent content but need some heavy editing).
The job could not be done without MaW's 'GuidePost'. I now that it may not be allowed to crossreference to a non-BBC source, but the newest version of this GuideML editor really is an irreplaceable tool for quick and concise 'GuideMLing'.
Unfortunately I have never reached a standard of coding that would allow me to program such a thing myself .
