A fog-bound corner of the pumpkin patch....

Take heed, who knows what lurks within

The 2009 Halloween Anagramathon

This was the banner of my pumpkin carving, The Post put together for the 2008 season. I'm rather proud of it so I'm displaying it here permanently. As it is nearly Halloween, it has been elevated to the top of my page

I'm a big supporter of the Halloween H2G2 Annual Anagramathon, and have previously appeared as

As clive the flying ostrich

  • 2006: Evil Girl of Itchy Stench
  • 2007: Thighs of Electric Vinyl

As Clive the flying ostrich the thingite warlord

  • 2008: Lycan nightlife dices vet, twilight horror!! fullmoon

For Halloween 2009: Appearing as Clive the flying ostrich: thingite warlord emeritus - Halloween Anagram

  • A wailing wraith's lament frightens the evil mayor (necrotic elder ghoul) ghost

I AM A GURU

A computer in a bin

The job of the Guru's is to provide help and technical assitence to reseachers and to be generally knowledgeable about how the site works. Greeting new researchers is generally left to the Assistant Community Editors - so if you have a question of a more general nature your first port of call should be them.

If you think you have a problem and would like a Guru to take a look at it. Please come and visit the Guru's Volunteer page where we subscribe so any message you leave us are bound to be picked up by someone.
Just click on the Guru Button below to visit the Guru's page.

THE GURU BUTTON

Gurus are subscribed to all help pages and also wander the site picking up stray queries so don't panic - someone will be along to help you quickly.

If you have any questions please post a message at either the faq pages by clicking on the large and avuncular 'Don't Panic' Button on the left or else you can get in contact with The Powers That Be by clicking on the computer screen to the right to go the the H2G2 Feedback page.

Eye Eye Oye Vey!

I seemed to have contracted* one of my legendary eye infections. bruised

or at least my eye looks (and feels) like the interior of a slightly over ripe watermelon and I spent this afternoon in A & E.

Got an appointment in Ophthalmetrics tomorrow at 3 when we'll find out for definite.

*decided to walk home from college. It was windy. I got as far as the roundabout when my eye started to flare up, by the time I reached Tecos, I couldn't see where I was going (which made crossing the road loads of fun!) Practically fell into the pharmacy in Tescos (Callum - Thank you!!!) who kindly helped me arrange a taxi to casualty.

It's enough to drive a sane man, CRAZY

grr

Have been fighting with my computer all night to get it to do a simple task of desktop publishing, and every little job has been an uphill battle.

Particularly effective at cheesing me off has been it's insistence to print all my tests in Best' rather that rapid as I repeatedly told, with the result with the continued errors, I've now practically depleted my unnecessarily expensive print cartridges.

I just about calm down from that by watch Dr Who, and return to my anvil to have another attempt at raking over the least ragged tatters of my soul to the machine god.

I go through and correct all my little errors, sort out some line-of-sight issues, re-phrase a few odd bits and bobs.

Then we had the power cut. and I watched all my effort plunge into that oh-so-familiar black hole of the computer nether hell of Richard wasted all his effort for absolutely not bloody reward AGAIN.

Really, really, really very thoroughly pissed off. grr
