  | | Look forward to your suggestions. Im not claiming to be the Guru on Camden - more a frequent visitor.I was so shocked to find no entry for it had been written, thought it about time someone did... Maybe the market and Camden town could have different entries though ?
Difficult to do the place justice though..

  | | There are some things that I'd like to be changed, as they are not needed in the entry.
"However, if *she* insists, a good place to wait (and arrange as a meeting point in case people get lost) is 'The Elephants Head', a little further down the road."
It's not only women that bargain hunt at Camden, believe me. I've been going there regularly for over two years, and I've seen as many men as women hunting through the stalls. So that's a rather sexist comment.
"Could well have something to do with the aromatic cigarettes that you may well have also have noticed by now."
This makes it sound as if drug taking is the norm there, and it's not. This comment might put people off going.
"Doubtless you will see people modelling most of the fashions available, others I think would require a more private party.." The point of Camden is that you can wear what you like - so the comment about private party could be rephrased so that it doesn't sound so critical.
"Having had such a wonderful time, should you feel the need to get yourself pierced, tattooed, or otherwise mutilated, there are plenty of shops that will oblige." I strongly object to *otherwise mutilated*. An entry about Camden should not include judgemental comments like this. Please take it out.
The title should be changed, because Camden Market only describes one market (that is actually a bit crap). Try Camden Markets, or something similar.
It's a good start for an entry. If these parts are changed, and the entry fleshed out more about the things that are on sale there, then it will be great to see it in the Edited Guide.

  | | Hi again, and thanks for the feedback <smile>
Ok, fair comment , the "if she insists" was a naughty little joke on my behalf ,I wondered if anyone would spot it..
Mina, I think you should lighten up a bit though -
"I strongly object to *otherwise mutilated*. An entry about Camden should not include judgemental comments like this"
Im not being judgemental at all, I have piercings and tattoos myself, and havent finished yet. I strongly believe that it is anybodys free choice to do what they like with their bodies. Partly I am being tongue-in-cheek, I suppose that's my style, and I couldnt really find another way to describe the assorted brandings, bone implants and god knows what else that are out there.
""Doubtless you will see people modelling most of the fashions available, others I think would require a more private party.." The point of Camden is that you can wear what you like - so the comment about private party could be rephrased so that it doesn't sound so critical."
Im not being critical - its one of the things I love about the place. Some people may well be intimidated if they thought people would be wandering around in their scanties though - and you cant tell me that crotchless catsuits are bought to be worn in public, whatever you or I might think about it...
I dont know about the hints about drugs though- thats why i put the comment at the bottom about normal laws applying. I sort of think that no-one is surprised these days (let alone intimidated), but maybe thats just my perpective from a mis-spent youth.. What does anyone else think ?
Isn't Market plural to the extent that if they are close enough they are considered one unit ? Markets I would think of as referring to seperate events - you wouldnt say there are lots of markets at Glastonbury for instance, you would tend to say there is a big market
for the input so far - I agree that the things available could well be fleshed out - particularly the jewellery part - what other things would you like mentioned ?
*Probibly the best place in the world to buy Doctor Martens boots* could go somewhere ?
The Zyra link is a bit stark, but an excellent listing. Thanks.
The point about the headings - i want to first see how 'Fleshed out' it gets..
The only first person part is "Walking up Camden High Street takes you past the Electric Ballroom - one of the many nightclubs in the area. (I would recommend it, but I was last there in 1994..)" I was hoping someone could fill me in as to whether it is still worth reccommending.

  | | Ok, "body modification" it is then. I suppose mutilation could be more gruesome that I intended- and I like the idea to linking to stuff about it - for that matter there may be a lot of links to pages regarding articles for sale. I first thought about making these sections all lists (like in ornaments), but ran out of examples from the top of my head before it got long enough. Could maybe go incence burners<LINK> african sculpture <link> ...... all of these things are pretty interesting, but where would it end ?

- I linked to this site under camden lock - but not the main index, It says about the different parts of the market and even has a map - would that help ? any better sites for it ? Just slightly worried that they wont need our entry having seen the official site !
