  | | THE WORD YOU ARE ALL LOOKING FOR IS 'ASPHYXIATION'.
The trouble with Betelgeuse being a VARIABLE Red Giant is this. Even if life had originated on a planet orbiting that particular star, it would have ben=en extingfuished, rapidly when Betelgeuse entered it's Red Giant stage. It is now a 'Pulsating' red giant, which means that someday soon, it is going to give us here on Earthy, the greatest fireworks display you, or your grandchildren have ever seen, as the star goes Supernova.
It is only 300 Lght -Years from us, here on Earth. This means, if Betelgeuse blew up yesterday, we will see the event in 300 years time..,,
However, if Betelgeuse went Supernova 300 years go....
Keep watching the skies!!
(PS 300 Light Years is a vast distance. No effects of the explosion will effect the Earth from that distance.
