Subject: Fishing - An Amendment

Since the start of this season (15th June 2002) fishing has been free at the majority of popular locations within the forest like Connaught Waters and Wake Valley Pond.

However, the stocks of carp within the larger waters have been vastly diminished. The story is that assylum seekers have been catching the fish and barbequing them - I don't know if that's right wing propoganda (for want of a better way of describing it) or simply a case of cultural differences - carp are seen as a food item in many countries.

Whatever the truth of the matter, catches so far this season have been vastly lower than usual.
