Liking their music and bending over backwards to a seventeen year old who wishes to stay in bed all day will do you no favours. I think that allowing them to choose when to get up if they don't have to go to school etc works well. Teenagers need sleep. My older son and his wife just travelled all the way round the world (literally) to get to Hong Kong for my 65th birthday party.
