Its now Sofa. Really! Also I think The Moon Under Water deserves a cameo mention, as it is allegedly the largest pub in Europe. Even if it isn't, it is still pretty damned big! There are lots of nice ones in Stockport that serve Robbie's (lovely) but that is a bit of a way out. My favouritist pub in the whole world is the Church Inn in Prestwich, just about four miles or so out of town, on a little road just off Bury New Road - and the actual church that it is next to is where they film all the weddings, funerals etc from Coronation Street. I think you'll find the little road is Church Lane (no surprises there, then ). I was last in there at Christmas - nice ale, well kept, good atmosphere. Me and a friend were turned away at 6pm on a Saturday night for not being a couple. We tried the 'we're gay' line and that didn't work. So they're not only nasty, but homophobic too. However it is till big. I like The Knott opposite Deansgate station - it has a good selection of real ales and a decent kitchen. Outside of Manchester The Ostrich in Prestwich is nice and I've hard good things about The Marble Beer House in Chorlton. I heard that Moon Under Water has the longest bar in Europe. Deansgate makes for a good crawl as long as your avoid pretentious places like The Living Room with ridiculous door staff.
