Very well written...

I will have to study the topic before I can comment further.

However, as a Unitarian, I knew that the Council of Nicea resulted in making the divinity of Jesus beyond question, and entrenching the Trinity in Christian doctrine.

Recently, there have been a number of articles about the role of Mary Magdelen in Jesus' life. I find it all very interesting.

The notion that "...one god was split into three..." is a heresy. It was not so affirmed by the Council of Nicea.
God is one but YAHWEH consists of three separate persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. That is the true summation of the Holy Trinity.
The Athanasian Creed sets this right in a marvellous way. There is no better statement probing the mysteries of the Godhead. It would take me too long to type it in. Check it out on your favourite search engine.
