How widespread is this faith today? Because I'd never heard of it before....
Tahirih sounds visionary, or something more... but I don't have a word... sorry.

It was said she had second sight. She saw the words of the Bab in her dreams. The Baha'i (also spelled B'hai) faith is the second most widespread religion (in terms of geography covered) in the world. As it was founded in the 1800s, it's still a fairly new religion, and according to my fellow cast members, they don't even have an official sabath day yet.

BTW -- I've already discovered an error in my article: According to a book handed out to each cast member last night our musician, Tahirih did, indeed, have brothers. My article assumed she didn't 'cause I figgured her father wouldn't have educated her if he'd had a son.

What a death. But I suppose, as always more importantly, what a life.

Yes. What a life. Anyway, if you've got questions about the Baha'i faith, feel free to ask. I can do some specifics, but I don't feel like tackling the whole thing as an article... yet winkeye

On this monday it is also a the start of a holy time, ridvan.

Bahaís belive that all religions come from the same god, i.e mohammad and christ and buddah etc all revealed truths and messages from god that were especially relevant to the time that they were around (until the next messanger came).
Baha'is believe that Baha'u'llah is the messengaer of god for our time, but we are taught to embrace the other religions, as they all developed from the same source.

Sorry, that is only a small part of the beliefs, but the one which I feel is most important to me, to find out more the best thing is to look in a book, but i will answer any specific questions (if i can)biggrin

Are you a Baha'i? I was given a book of her poetry as a gift. It is wonderful.
