Was hallowe'en devised after the reformation and various other schisms? If not surely saying the Christian Church would be more accurate. Saying "Roman Catholic" makes it sound (comparatively) recent.

When was the Roman Catholic church established? I thought Britain was Roman Catholic until old Henry had a schism. We became Christian in 600AD I think, but was that Christian or Catholic? Hummmmmmmmmmm?

600 AD I'd say was Christian - it's even pre the East West split. (14th and 15th Century). I think issues around Rome came quite a bit later.

perhaps dropping the word Roman and just saying Catholic would be sufficient.
Prior to the reformation all Christian Churches were Catholic.

Prior to the Reformation, all Christians were just Christian. There was no such thing as Catholic or Protestant. So I've changed all the references from Catholic to Christian.

the name Halloween derives from all Hallows Eve the night before All Saints Day. I have no idea how many centuries Christendum has celebrated that.

I looked it up and Answer.com suggests
Germany and England began celebrating a feast of all martyrs and saints on 1 November in the 8th century, instead of on 13 May, as was done in Rome;
Other sites say Pope Gregory IV started it in the year 837.

That's long before the Reformation.
