I am getting married in April at the ripe old age of 50. I need some advice about what to wear as an older bride(I don't know anyone who has got married at my age!) I have loked at magazines but they only have young brides in big white dresses or suits for mother of the bride. Can anyone offer me advice please?

I got married at 40, and know what you're talking about! I was too old for all the frou-frou, but too young to go for the mother of the bride outfits. I ended up getting a lovely gown in ivory that was a sheath covered with lace. The lace made the small train as well. It worked very well for me.

My only advice would be to just get out there and try things on. Some of the things I thought might look okay looked awful, and I was pleasantly surprised by the gown I got, which was recommended by one of the saleswomen in the shop. smiley

Aloha,

I'm a wedding planner in Hawaii.

You have the wisdom and self-knowledge that only experience brings.

Find something that makes you feel special and gorgeous, and damn the "rules". It's your day and a celebration of your relationship, you make the rules!

Peace, sunsets and aloha from Maui
