A friend once asked me how to get to the city from my house. I was very surprised to find myself saying "go to the end of this road and turn right, go to the end of that road and turn left, the end of the road and turn right, the end of the road and turn left. Go under the overpass and turn right, that will take you up onto the main road follow that until you reach the city" I was stunned at how easy it was to give directions for a drive of approximately 10 minutes and had amazingly never noticed the right, left, right, left, right thing before.

Another time I was driving in Sydney with a friend. She was navigating in a sense. I had a pretty good idea of where to go but wasn't 100% sure. When we got to the hard part she decided I didn't need any help and put the map down. We parked the car hopped on a train intoe central station, did what I had to do and then headed off on foot to the shops. She asked me where we had to go and I said it was easy. We just had to walk in this general direction and head for the tower. Pretty simple! She asked every person we saw for directions! I was so annoyed at the time but now I just find it amusing that she would trust me to drive around Sydney when I said I wasn't sure but wouldn't let me walk without directions.
