This is the Conversation Forum for Choosing the Correct Rocks for your Sauna Oven << rocks for saunas Subject: rocks for saunas Posted May 13, 2003 by Anderida   Posting 1 I once got a letter from a correspondent in New Zealand about how to put down a hangi, a NZ method of underground cooking. Like a sauna, it involved the use of hot rocks. I remember his advice was to use stones from a river, the reason being that if a rock in a river had a fault, it would have split already.
