Fascinating article!

I was just wondering why nothing more was said about the fifth man???

Any information/speculation would interest me.

By the way, You write that the fifth man's identity cannot be revealed until after his death, but at the end of the article you write that none of the spies survived to see the end of the Soviet Union???!!!

what I meant by 'none of the spies' was Burgess, McLean, Philby and Blunt

there has always been speculation that there was a 'Fifth Man' some one 'very high up' the rumours have pointed to Sir Roger Hollis who was head of the Intellegence Services at the time, others have said it was John Cairncross, but whoever it is/was immunity was granted in return for double crossing the Soviets as in the case of Blunt, we will have to wait until whoever he/she was has died.

Have you been watching the drama on BBC2?
