I know that the Swatch watches contain no technical innovations, but I think they deserve a mention as I pretty certain that they could claim to have made digital watches stylish, fashionable and affordable.

Are Swatches all digital nowadays?

I remember when they first came out. They were supposed to be cheap and disposable, and succeded in this by locking the whole mechanism with its power source in a plastic solid body and a plastic wristband.

Because they were cheap to produce, Swatch was able to make many different and contemporary styles and demand went through the roof. I thought they looked horrible, but they were definitely unique. The ones I remember folks bragging about all had dials. You can't get a disposable Swatch nowadays.
