" ... Puh-leeease ..."

"... to die for ..."

For instance

"I was just like oh my god"

What is that supposed to mean?

Apart from the fact that the speaker is quite probably barely literate and happily inane.

More irritating verbal diarrhoea:

24-7

As in "Being press secretary is a full-on, 24-7 assignment".

"Like"

Ugh, I somehow got started saying that, and it's a terribly hard habit to break... I've managed to get my usage of it down, but it's still haunting me. Occasionally I'll let it slip, then I slap myself and cry.

Well, not really, but yanno.

People who keep interjecting "I Mean","You Know",or "You know what I mean" after every few words really get on my nerves. The worst offenders seem to be sportsmen being interviewed after a game.I can remember one Premiership manager starting one reply with the expression "I mean, you know" on Match Of The Day. If the interviewer knew what he meant,he wouldn't have asked the question in the first place!!! It's little wonder that the spoken word in this country is slowly going to pot with people in the public eye talking like that.
