I can see, that this topic has been turned into a yes or no question by some people, when it really have shouldn't. Life is a precious commodidy.. i know. The more religious of the bunch will say no. Live untill you die naturally. Suffer if you need to suffer. God has a plan.. and it involves you dying at so and so time. The sympithetics will say, yes. If someone is in pain, and wants to die (this is the important part), then grant their request. Pump them full of drugs, make their death painless. Everyone has to go. It might as well be painless. Me? I always seem to take the odd position. I am the pro-choice person. I am like the court. Every case needs to be judged seperatly. I cannot say no. there is never a case for it, because there is an exception to every situation. What IF, the person is brain dead. The body still works, but theres no one inside. Is that not reason to let the body "go"? If a person signs the sheet that says the plug shoud be pulled if in said situation, then they should have their wish. Choices. However, i cannot say yes because there are many different types of "pain". If you are really set to the YES decision, then think. Would you grant the request of a a clinically depressed person to be killed? That person is suffering from MUCH "pain" from a sickness. You must think of every extreme when deciding your position. I hope no one does ever take their life before their "time" is up.. but everyone should have a choice.

Pulling the plug is not Euthanasia. Euthanasia implies actively seeking the patient's death and is illegal in most countries. Witholding medical aid for terminally ill patients when they will likely never wake again, but may 'exist' for weeks or months on life support, is a different case altogether and is legal in most countries.
