Romantic comedies are best, because it often doesn't matter if you miss large chunks of the plot, and it is more likely to put you and your date in the right mood than "Terminator 623: Crash, splat, die die die". Having said that, I have a couple of friends who went to see GI Jane on their first date: not what you might call romantic, but they're still together five years later!
