Subject: Farmers Markets!

If you *really* want to support your local growers, buy some veg from a farmers market. You're buying direct from the producers, so a) all the profits got the the farmers, b) you can ask about anything to do with the produce (eg herbicides/pesticides, etc), and get a full answer and c) you don't have to go to a busy supermarket... ok

Or if you live in the right kind of area, sometimes you can go directly to the small farms. Where I live, you drive about an hour out of the city, and there are little farms all over the place. I usually go to one to get my apples every autumn, and there's a squash and corn place just across the road....

Yeah. Definitely support farmer's markets.

As far as I know, you can go to all the farms that are represented at the farmers markets. It's often a good idea to phone first though, to check location and opening times...

We're getting a goose from one of the farms for Christmas this year, and we'll get a gammon joint from one of the others, as well as all the usual veg and other stuff from the markets...
