John Ridgway Save the Albatross Voyage 2003-4 AIM: TO PREVENT THE NEEDLESS SLAUGHTER OF THE ALBATROSS
English Rose V1 is the largest vessel in the Ridgway's Ardmore fleet. A Bowman 57' ketch, the hull and deck were built in 1975 by Seaglass in Arlesford. The initial rigging set up and fit out was by Arun Bose and Jamie Young at Emsworth. They were part of the crew with John that sailed the bare boat up to Ardmore in January 1976. Fitout was subsequently completed by Arun. She's covered a lot of miles since then... Additional equipment fitted since these line drawings were made inludes: - 2 x Profurl twin forestays, one 18" astern of the other.
- Profurl staysail
- Hood main-mast electric inmast furling.
- Furling mizen staysail
- 4kva Fischer Panda generator
- Two watermakers
- Hydraulic windlass
- Towing generator
- Wind generator
- Solar Panels
- Much Raymarie electronics, including autopilot and two radars.
- Four GPS
- All new sails
- Three Aries and one Scanmar stainless steel wind steering
systems.
