ABOUT THIS RESEARCHER

Created: 24th March 2005
Me, Myself and Prof. Chaos

Peer Review

A brief introduction to me:

  • Joined 24th March 2005
  • 19 years old
  • Live in Essex, but the border to London is at the end of my road - live in Glasgow for university
  • Left West Hatch High School in June 2005 (For A Level results see journal)
  • Reading English literature, theatre studies and English language at Glasgow University
  • Varied music taste spans from Marilyn Manson to Maria Callas, Eminem to Garth Brooks, but my favourite artists are: Queen, Pink Floyd, Oasis, Eminem, Placebo, Braintax and The Streets
  • I try to learn as much as I can and don't limit myself to the subjects I study, but they tend to be my forté, including English and drama
  • Interested in reading, listening to music, socialising, films, Britcoms, video games when with friends

Well that's all about me, so I best tell you about myself:

Myself1 is planning to write as many articles of high quality as he can as soon as he can, mainly in between terms at university and this Summer holiday. Myself is a Pythonist, a Pepperite and always remembers his towel. He is planning to write articles on the following: the true definition of epic; full Placebo discography; the Marilyn Manson triptych; Monkey Island/SCUMM games2; University project about the monarchy from 1066- now; Glasgow University; Machievelli; Types of verse; Willow Pattern plate; pie and mash shops. As if that wasn't enough, Myself is working extensively on a university project involving Cricket. That is all.

Towelie says: Don't forget to bring your towel

And now for something completely different; a musical interlude featuring a bit of patriotism for us all with this lovely hymn by William Blake

And did those feet in ancient time Walk upon England's mountains green? And was the holy Lamb of God On England's pleasant pastures seen? And did the Countenance Divine Shine forth upon our clouded hills? And was Jerusalem builded here Among these dark Satanic mills? Bring me my bow of burning gold! Bring me my arrows of desire! Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold! Bring me my chariot of fire! I will not cease from Mental Fight, Nor shall my Sword sleep in my hand, Till we have built Jerusalem, In England's green and pleasant Land.

Then, of course, there is finally my comic book alter-ego Prof. Chaos. Anybody who is anybody kneels before the might of this powerful character, but just incase you need to know more about him you should read his biography.

Last Sunday morning (way too early) I departed my home down near London to fly up to Glasgow to attend university, okay term isn't for another two weeks but the contract of my halls started on the Saturday so I'll be damned if I'm paying for something I'm not using, especially as I can get to know everyone in my halls.

I'm sharing a room which I thought would be weird but thankfully the guy is alright mostly, the people on my floor are mostly great people (two Hitchhiker's fans :D) and oddly enough in the next room to me is somebody who I never knew but apparently lived about 15 minutes walk away from me back home, weirdness. Anyways laptop sorted out and now have internet connection in my room so shouldn't have any problems getting on HooToo this year, unless the servers go down.

A Levels
Aug 18, 2005

As I'm sure everyone knows today was the panicky day of A (and AS) level results day and I was very nervous to see whether I scored the 3Bs I needed to go to Glasgow. Yes I live in Essex, I don't know why I'm going that far either.

Hopeful that I'd scored As in English lit and history but nervous I scored a C in drama and theatre studies I opened the envelope in trepidation and prepared myself to add up all the module numbers to see what I scored. Luckily they were added up for me.

A in English lit (120/120 on post-1945 theatre synoptic paper)
A in history (grrr, missed out on an A coursework by one mark, doesn't matter I guess though)
B in drama and theatre studies (90/90 for acting performance)
AS general studies: B (Like anyone cares)
Philosophy&ethics: A (From last year)

Front Page News
Aug 5, 2005

So today I woke up early (which is half 10 for me now I'm on academic holiday) to watch The Ashes after our brilliant 407 all out score yesterday. I turn on the TV to discover that I've missed the first few bowels, and indeed I've missed someone being caught out - for a duck. Australia 1-0, what a good site it was even if they will, no doubt, catch up to our formiddable score but hopefully they will stumble just before hand.

As I was saying, as if that wasn't good enough, the best score at Birmingham for an opening batting side against Australia for well over a decade, I come online to check the status of my currently peer review guide entries only to find that my first piece has made it to the front page. And not just one of the my first pieces, all three parts of it. Jubiliation is a word that springs to mind, I feel legit now, properly part of HooToo. Yay me!
