Another six months goes by... Aug 1, 2000
Ah, the English summer lives up to the reputation that made white people white.
Just gotton back from Portugal though, where I just had a wonderful time, swimming, eating, exploring, driving and even picking up a little bit of culture upon they way.
Before that had a bit of a jaunt into Austria to catch some spring skiing with the European family.
Having said that though, London is a great place to be right now, so why am I writing only about getting away? Hmm....

Back to the chill Feb 2, 2000
Well here I am, back in Londontown.
Sun, sand and surf all but a sweet memory.
I can't talk about what it's like there, it's too depressing. What I can say is that I took it all for granted before I left.
Nose back to the grindstone and all that.
Had one COLD week in NY on the way back. It's always a blast to go over there. -15C in the snow. Welcome to the winter wonderland.

Changing winds Nov 8, 1999
As the oppressive London winter tighten's it's grip on the frozen misery of old London town, I am to break free from its hours of darkness and it's chill.... though it can never be as cold as the Danish winter.
I'm off back home! Catch up with the family and some summer sun for a month before returning to this harsh environment... but with a tan, for I intend to spend most of the time on New Zealand's beautiful beaches in the summer. Brush a little dust of my surfboard and hit the waves.
Mum's Christmas turkey. Mmmm. New potatoes. Mmmm. Auckland's burn time of 15 minutes in direct sunlight. Ouch. Sailing on the Hauraki Gulf. Yeah baby. Surfing at Mangawhai Heads. I think so. What a great trip this is going to be. Pop in on my buddies in New York upon my return too. It's gonna be sweet.

The fearsome English winter begins.... Nov 2, 1999
Well. We just passed daylight savings and the sun started to go down at around 4pm. This winter shall be a very long drawnout painful experience if I didn't have my trip home around Christmas. I wonder how people survive here without going completely nuts. I can remember my relief in the spring when all the decidious trees started to grow leaves again, that was a very happy day.

NZ's Rugby Shame Nov 1, 1999
Shock and Horror, New Zealand are not going to be in the World Cup final, and its not something that I like to spend seventy-five quid on to receive the tragic news.
And really, France? Losing to Australia would have been understandable, but we're talking about the team that came -last- in the Five Nations tournament this year. Tonga beat them. In short, what happened!
We made mistakes and they capitalised on them, that's what happened. Our vaunted defence and our sterling offense were held up by the determined French underdogs.
Looks like it's going to be another long four years.
