Samhain Oct 23, 2004
Hello and Happy Samhain to all! I have been researching Halowe'en(possibly my favourite time of year; everyone is so nice to each other; free candy, happy children, happy parents, parties and romance for single people and no stress; there isn't the same wind up of expectations and commercialism that Christmas is now frought with, not to mention the sheer magic of all the leaves, the dress up, something ingrained about it...... and anyway I have read alot of new and interesting stuff. One source said it was the old thanksgiving in Britain; time for crops to be harvested before the fairies destroyed them (enter Jack Frost I suppose) and there was feasting and I wonder if that is where the Canadian Thanksgiving comes from as it is close in timing...and that the early Christians/yet still druids did not sacrifice animals per say; but animals that would not live over the winter, or the farmers could not support, were killed for festing and thanks was given to God or Godess depending on the region and etc. and so that's where the incorrect perception of animal sacrifices came from.... Anyhow, it is just so exciting to me and fun! There is a great website, it's llewelyn free tarot or some such thing and you can have a free online Tarot reading. Quite fabulous. Well, I have my spooky red blinking eyes and the horrible pumpkins my children and I have painted and I want to be one of MacBeth's witches so I'll have to see what I can throw together.....only one of my little ones wants to be scarry...a ghost with dracula teeth. The other two want to be MegaMan ( a card game like Yugio) characters. I don't think that's very much in the spirit but then neither is telling them how to dress up so there we are. Well, good week to all and have a glorious, wonderful Halowe'en! Happy New Year!

No news Sep 25, 2004
Wow! I cannot believe it but nothing has been happening; of course, sometimes no news is good news; it means school is going well and no one's getting into trouble, it means I still have my job, I don't have an illness, the car does not need repairs and etc.,... The only bad side to no news at the moment is that my husband has not found a job; sigh. He was laid off in June; company bought out by an American one and subsequent re-structuring, and over the summer it wasn't too bad because he was home with the children so we saved in childcare what he would have earned and it was nice for him to be with them...but now....oh, well. I saw a property for sale, a small house but 2 stores attached; he would love to have his own game store. So I mentioned it but it seems that because he is unemployed and I am only contract the bank would not approve a mortgage etc.; even if we sold the house we have etc. Sigh! I mean, when you have a job and could buy it your less inclined to take the risk and quit the job and do it....sort of senseless; besides, if you default the bank takes it; I mean, they really can't loose anyway....I'm somewhat annoyed at that right now.... I really wanted to go for a swim today and my mom's neighbour is very generous and has a lovely pool but she just drained it for the season. Things not going quite my way..... But, the sun is poking out from under the clouds so I should get the boys and Charles (the pup) out and enjoying it. Hubby is off at a Star Trek game; do they have those card games across the pond too? Are they very big? Many game stores? Internet purchasing? Just curious....I mean, is it just my husband or everyone? Well, have a good week to all and I hope you all have "no news"; in the good way of course! MorganLF
