Tripureshundari
What immortal powers
Rise from the pond?
The sacred and profane;
The good and evil
All transcend space and time
Before Her eyes sparkling bright,
In a gold gleam of midnight darkness
The swamps in water float in shyness.
The pedlar of bangles bows in wonder
The girl in water swims asunder.
If beauty is measured in hours of grace,
Quiet as the dawn the stillness pervades
The courtyard of the temple at high-noon
Long before the dance of the bangled-moon.

Golden Buddha
Nov 14, 2004

Golden Buddha
In a temple of light
Magic of the moment
After days of plight
Monks draw
Mandalas on sand
Freedom of Tibet
Is in their hand
Children suffer
In freezing cold
Their sad faces
Are never told
How much money
Is spent in elections?
Who wins or loses,
Who makes corrections?
The world bodies are humble,
They offer grants
The poorest of poor
Are always overrun.
Some stay victim,
Others are maniacs
Life goes on
Drinking cogniacs.

Fish Market
Sep 27, 2004

Fish is fishy
Cos it blinks its eye
Unless you drop a coin
To the girl sitting nearby
Everyday at the fishmarket.

Fish is gilly
Cos it twists its fins
Unless you drop a coin
In a box of tin
For victims of flood
Everyday at the fishmarket.

Fish is my mermaid
Cos she is sweeter than
The barmaid. She is
Life of a million fishermen
In rivers, seas and estuaries
Of India and elsewhere.

Long And Short Walks
Sep 15, 2004

A long walk
Tedious river
Aches arteries
Feeding
The heart of lotus
Birth of knowlege
From the beauty
Of pain.

A short walk
Mountain graves
Hollow and boneless
Leaving
The flesh of clothes
Birth of enlightenment
From the navel
Of Buddha.

The Word
Sep 15, 2004

The Word

Om
Was the Word
The Word was
With God
And the Word
Was God.

Om
Is sound
Of supreme silence
Beginning of cosmos
Is Timeless
Brahma alone was
In realm of calm.

Om
Is tongue
Of mother of wisdom
Kalidas wrote
Sakuntala
Saraswati plays veena.
Lotus epiceurasia

Om
Is knowledge
Of infinity and bliss
When an arrow mind
Pierces centre
Of quantum energy
In hub of Brahma.

Om
Is consciousness
Of being and nothiness
When I becomes
You and everything else
Word becomes words
In mandala of time.

Om
Is enlightenment
Of logic and proportion
Soul is Buddha
Vishnu and Shiva
Jesus and Brahma

Om
Is universe
Of matter and energy
And grain of sands
On palm of your hand
Every atom forever be.

Om
Is quietness
Moondrop silence
Of inaction-in-action
Beauty of forgiveness.
Peace of mindlessness.

Om shantih, Om shantih, Om shantih
Om shantih, Om shantih, Om shantih
Om shantih, Om shantih, Om shantih.
