ABOUT THIS RESEARCHER

Created: 9th September 1999
Dont Panic - it's only me.
In Mourning.

It's not often that a visionary the likes of Douglas Adams comes amongst us. I am sad that he's gone.

However, I will always be happy for what he has done, and for what he will always mean to me.

JOURNAL
Finally.........
May 7, 2000

......Ahhhhh, it's good to come home.

after months and months of extended deadlines, project targets etc. I finally manage to devote some time to the important things in life....e.g H2G2....and .....ummmmm....well.....H2G2 really.

On taking a quick look around I see - as expected - that 'The Guide' has evolved at an astonishing rate since I last was here...Lots and Lots of new people - wonder if i'll ever be able to catch up - and even more new projects. Guess I'll have to take some time to 'lurk' in order to catch up on things.

Rats!
Jan 14, 2000

Go to spend a couple of weeks away without a computer (field research). How will I survive without a daily visit to H2G2? everything changes so quickly here - a good thing - but it means I'll have to spend hours/days/weeks even catching up with events when I come back. I NEED a WAP device......SOB!

Holidays, are they worth it?

Sometimes I think not. Especially if on your return you find your mailbox overswamped, and realise how many people you've managed to miss meeting in 'The Guide'.

Anyway, I'm back - albeit temporarily, for the moment, so to speak, as it were, don't you know.

Oh, it feels like it's all been so long - so much has happened in the meantime.

Anyway, hope you all had a great christmas, and look forward to celebrating Hogmanay.

Defeat
Nov 14, 1999

'...and sent them homewards.....'

Unfortunately not, this time, and I don't imagine theres the slightest possiblity of winning at wembley on wednesday either. This match always raises a curious issue with me. I'm a half-breed, that is half scottish, half english, yet I can't help but feel dissapointed when Scotland loses against England in football - even though I don't really like football.

As far as I'm aware, out of 85 matches played between England and Scotland, that makes the score 45 - 40 in Englands favour, not too bad a record considering the difference in population. Although I would imagine this will increase to 46 - 40 on Wednesday.

On thing I don't agree with - and something I see all too many times among Scottish Supporters - is when England play any other team in any event, and Scotland have been knocked out of the event - many will support Englands opposing team. Despite the rivalry, which in most cases is taken in good humour, I think more of us should get behind the British team in such circumstances.

Friday night. 10:30 pm. I should be having a laugh, a few jars, a few 'putting the world to rights' discussions with some mates. But nooooooo.....I have to work tonight.

Life!
