ABOUT THIS RESEARCHER

Created: 21st July 1999
Julian Cope. The man and his music
The man's mad, clearly, but mad in an almost prophetic way. A little out of touch with the normal world - hell, he apologized for releasing 'Leperskin' after the Poll tax riots had seen off the Poll Tax, but he is indeed the Archdrood from another planet.. I seem to remember he claimed to have taken acid daily for about 3 years, so we can applaud him his managing to stay even vaguely with the world as the rest of us know it, and excuse his bouts of uncomprehensibility. And thanks to him we got the KLF anyway. We can remember the glory of his live version of Reynard the Fox, marvel at his microphone complete with bits for him to stand on, wonder what the hell the BBC were thinking of allowing him to present Top Of The Pops, and look forward to the next musically sound but lyrically deranged thing he will release next. He's done Politics, He's done Family, He's done Pollution, He's done Spirituality (frequently), He's done more drugs than I have, and may the Queen Mother Earth give him a pat on the back for that.

JOURNAL
my summer holidays
Aug 12, 2000

I must be about half way through my summer holidays. I have just reached the point where they are starting to zip by far too fast.
I have done a lot of reading. I have done a lot of tidying. Where does all this junk in my house come from? I think I single handedly keep the charity shops in stuff to sell.
Went to a wedding the other week. Had venison for the first time. What else? Oh yeah - had a BBQ. Weeeeellll, it *is* the summer in the UK. Had firebreathers which was funky. And rain which was inevitable.
Bought a printer. It might not sound like much but it is the only part of my computer stuff that actually belongs to me, the rest of it ie monitor, computer, speakers, mouse, keyboard, christ, even the bloody wires, all belong to the BF and his mates. Actually the speakers may be mine too.
Also. Have watched a lot of Goodies, which I was surprised to see have stood the test of time very well and are still funny and some of the politics can be applied to today too. Incredible I thought.
Been playing a lot of Unreal Tournement and Spyro. Weird combination I know I know.
Had nephews and neices to stay. Enables me to blackmail family members for babysitting at later dates Haha!

Back at school now and Oh My What A Joy It Is to be teaching rooms filled with testosterone laden lads... No Really. It Is.
So life has reverted back to little more than me working at school and then doing prep at home at nights and weekends and escaping to the net for the tiny bit of fujn I allow myself *sigh* Roll On Half Term... 6 weeks and counting...
