My Latest Creation
Feb 27, 2006

I've finally finished the split skirt dress I've been making for a LARP game called Shards, specifically for tackling linear's. Linears for the uninitiated involve a long hike through rough woodland and uneven terrain.

Pictures can be seen here...

Pure fantasy this one and made to my own design. It has a fitted and lined bodice with princess seams and full skirt with godets inserted to maximise the swish factor. The outer is wool, the bodice lining is in cotton. I bound the front and back with bias binding, embroidered the princess seams with a seed stitch to pick them out and had a go at a basic celtic double spiral on the back.

The photo's here were taken on a very cold and windy February day, which is why my hands seem to have vanished into my sleeves and my shoulders are all tensed up. Oh and the walking boots are every woman's dream of how to look lady like smiley

I'm quite pleased with how this turned out, although the fit isn't quite right in the back. A casualty of working entirely on my own and forgetting how much my body shape changes when I'm wearing a bodice. All in all though, once you get over the shock of the colour its been a success.
