Come in. Make yourself comfy. Have a cup of tea.

Even if you're just passing through, Unknown Visitor1, do drop me a line to say hello ok

Things Happening in My Life

I've just left my official capacity of Deputy Editor of this site, but am still around - I couldn't ever really leave, h2g2 is too fabulous. See my old life over here.

In September I am starting a graduate conversion course in psychology. Must've been something to do with interacting with you lot over the last four years wow

I have recently taken up making preserves. The results are so brilliant I predict that jam-making will be the new going out wow wow

Motherhood (!)

Dominic joined us on 15 July, 2001, and we've been having fun ever since. His latest escapades have included giggling and laughing, and going out on his bike. Why not join me over at The h2g2 Parent and Baby Group?

1 If you are completely freaked out by me using your name, don't be, it's just a technical feature, I don't usually go about over-actively using people's first names like a cheesy advertising salesman, but I thought using it would be a friendly gesture!

I love Denmark!
Jun 3, 2003

I've just come back from a short trip to Arhus in Denmark - it really is the most marvellous place. Have you ever been to a place where you just feel *comfortable*? Where you feel you couldn't make any complaints at all, even if you tried? The Danish seem to have got everything right. The place isn't touristy or in your face, it's extraordinarily child friendly (I hear that there are child carriages on inter city trains!), it's green and pleasant, there are bicycles everywhere, hardly any cars in comparison with London, the food's good, there's an excellent welfare system and it's very environmentally conscious. And it was sunny, too! (And my, the men are handsome winkeye blush )

Sorry Everyone
Apr 29, 2003

I've been terrible at keeping in touch with the site over the last couple of weeks. Dominic's had chicken pox (just a little bit scabby now, not uncomfortable any more) and the week before that I was helping out on the BBC homepage.

Sorry, I should have explained why I was so quiet...

Chicken Pox Bleurgh
Apr 23, 2003

Dominic has got chicken pox. The poor thing is not looking his best. The spots came out on Easter Sunday and he's been steadily looking more afflicted as the days go by. 'Itch' is one of his new words and he's getting very grumpy (well, you would, wouldn't you?)

Dominic's Words
Feb 28, 2003

Dominic talks to us about all sorts of things. There's sounds that obviously mean something to him, but we haven't worked out what they mean yet. I sat down and made a list of the ones that are identifiable:

Arro - hello
Iya - hiya
BaiBai - bye
Mai - mine
Bowl - bowl
Bawl - ball
Dow - down
Up - up
Up there - up there
Bang - bang
Buc - bucket
Boo - balloons/bubbles
yai-tes - lights
Book - book
Baby - baby
Ahh!
Yay
Uh-oh!
More more - more of whatever
More more - I would like a drink please
No - no
No - nose
Aei - eye
Ess - ears
mow - mouth
Shs - shoes
Dark - dark

Brilliant eh? And doing particularly well with 'B' words.

biggrin
