ABOUT THIS RESEARCHER

Stuart's Page
My name is my real one, could never think of a good handle for myself, although others can and have thought of many, most of them not too uncomplimentary. I will keep them to myself for the moment as they could be either too revealing, take too long to explain or be totally misinterpreted.

I am a gentleman of leisure now, living of a pension having spent 22 years in the Army. Twenty Two years and one hundred and sixteen days to be precise - the extra 116 days was because a joined 116 days before my eighteenth birthday and the time does not start till your eighteenth birthday. Just one of those little things they do not tell you til it is too late to do anything about it.

During my time in the Army I served in Germany, Northen Ireland, Cyprus, Oman, Bahrain, Hong Kong, Canada and USA. Of all the places I have been, Cyprus is the only place to which I would have any hankering to go back. A pleasant climate - not too hot in summer and still quite warm in the winter, unless you find yourself on top of Mt Olympus (6000ft). I learnt to ski in Cyprus. Learnt to ski on snow in the morning and went water skiing on the sea in the afternoon - not many countries where you can do that.

Since leaving the Army I have worked in computers, finishing of working for a Financial Services Company writing database programmes for them. I keep my hand in from time to time doing a bit of maintenance. I still find it amazing how highly educated people with intricate knowledge of financial matters find it difficult to do something as simply as copy a file from a hard disk to a floppy.

Most of my spare time now is taken up helping to run a Community Computer Centre, a charitable organisation helping to bring the wonders of the Internet to the less fortunate members of the community.

That will do for now. When I learn how to use the GuideML I will try something fancy. I Never got round to learning XML. Now if it were Visual Basic........

First entry recommended for the Edited Guide after only a week in PR. (Nitrogen Narcosis A803891) . Seems that Narcotics is a subject that many people are interested in. As it is a Bank Holiday there is plenty of opportunity to celebrate.
