ABOUT THIS RESEARCHER

Created: 12th July 2002
Ah, So I See...
This is how you do an introduction, interesting, I guess I'll have to do something interesting for it. Well to start of with I hail from the U.S. and I first picked up the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy a bit over a year ago, at which point I picked up the sequils too and never let go of them. But anyway, I found out about this endevour soon after and read quite a bit of it during the drudgery of my work days, and now a year later I've finally made my first entry. Hopefully it will be one of many or at least one of a few good ones (quality over quantity and all that).

My main objective here is to add a bit more 'geek' into the guide as I enjoy all things geek, especally computers. Well that's about it, so if anybody wants to drop me a line, go to it, and good luck.

So tired... College has a way of destroying healthy sleep paterns, especially when you commute and stay up all hours of the night playing Warcraft III (oh how I loathe the undead...). One day I'll finish my next entry... yawn

Eh, Insperation
Aug 6, 2002

I lack it at the moment. I feel the need to write something, but I never write unless I can really get into the material. Currently any type of insperation would be appriciated.

There has to be some topic I could do. I can write about computer games (most notably: Warcraft), however entries on computer games lack a timeless feel. Same thing with specific computer technologies of the moment. Internet culture worked in my previous (first) entry, but what aspect could I use? Webcomics? Perhapes, or rather a specific web comic, probably, MegaTokyo. I'd need to do a large bit of research for that, I'll keep it in mind I suppose.

On the other hand I could try writing about some type of anime. Although, I'm probably not very qualified to go very far into that, it's not my first field you see. But perhapes something on Mobile Suit Gundam would be in order, plenty to write about there.

Must always remember to write about the ideals rather than the physical thing...

Annoying Things to Fix
Aug 2, 2002

I've been trying to fix a 'Tickle Me Elmo', you know the stuffed Elmo that laughs and shakes when you touch it's stomach. Well this one refuses to shake when he laughs. The annoying part is that whenever I take out the voice box and poke around with it too see what's wrong it just laughs at me. Constantly.

Elmo better watch his mouth (err, speaker I guess) or he might find himself without one.

Introduction of sorts
Jun 22, 2002

Well I finally got around to contributing to the guide. Took me long enough :P (note: long enough = 348 days est). My first entry, written in about a grand total of 5 hours (including GuideMLing it up and figuring everything out). I wrote it on 1337 speak, dispite the 6 or so other entries out there. However all the others were just translation tables and the occational person-being-an-idiot posts. I remember learning 1337 and wondering where it came from, so I figured that's what I'd write about, I only hope I did it justice.

I hope I can make a habit of this, h2g2 is one of the coolest ideas on the web. Shouldn't be too hard to find a topic, there's plenty of other geeky stuff I can write about winkeye
