ABOUT THIS RESEARCHER

Created: 18th June 2002
Hello to me (and you)
Doing the Lambeth Walk, Oi!
Aren't they fabulous! biggrin I came to h2g2 nearly five years ago after leaving school due to bullying. The community that I found gave me the strength and confidence to lead a happy life and get over the past. I have found true friends on here and having returned after a lengthy abscence I am vowing to dedicate more time to this beloved site.

We could learn a lot from crayons:
some are sharp, some are pretty,
some are dull, some have weird names,
and all are different colors....
but they all exist very nicely in the same box.

From one of those daft e-mail forwards.

Explaining the Duties...

GURU: Being a GURU apparently makes me very clever. Hmm...well, even if I'm not able to answer your questions, one of this lovely lot will. Just click there name in the list below.

Muse of Japanese Maples: In my old house there was a huge Japanese Maple tree at the bottom of my garden which I sit under to think or read quietly. Feel free to sit under The H2G2 Japanese Maple.

I'm Smilokit #3 in Smilodon's Fan Club

I am a true researcher!

Thanks to Six7's for this simple little equation, that I managed to completely not spot when I tried to work it out myself. Maths never was my strong point.

( 1 * 9 - 6 ) * ( 7 - 5 ) * 7 = 42

Drum roll please.

I have just gotten my first ever 1st at uni! For an essay on Legally Blonde and Romaticism/Feminism. I am absolutely thrilled, especially as my marks for the first semester of the second year have dropped. Break out the bubbly?bubbly bubbly

Happy birthday to me...!
Jan 21, 2007

*passes round the >cake>*

20 today! I don't feel mature enough to be 20, it sounds too adult. Having said that, I am a lot more mature than most 20 year olds I know.

Just relaxed in the bath with one of those bath bomb things. Lots of petals so i looked very pretty, all gothic and romantic. I am currently waiting for a chinese to arrive as I'm having an evening in.

Then tomorrow, having moved main celebration to avoid birthday anti-climax, am going to the Union with my friends. It's Disney theme and I conveniently got a blue sweater dress for my birthday with Bambi on the front! Sounds weird, looks wonderful.

Hugs Pearl xbiggrin

Could someone get me some handcuffs?
Jan 8, 2007

You've got some? Good. Now...see that table over there, I'd like you to cuff me to it. Maybe add some chains. Anything to make sure I don't leave again!

Pearl is back and this time i am staying, promise double promise.

I've been here for about an hour and already I've discovered that people who I thought had left are still here, laughed at lots of jokes, sensed that the community and friendships on here are as vibrant and welcoming as ever and had a little cry.

You see, uni has been tough. The first year was mainly great. The second year started well, new boyfriend, lots of friends, interesting course. It ended with no boyfriend (my choice, that's not really a problem) still lots of friends but an almost total lack of faith in some of the people on my course. I'm ashamed to say i nearly quit over the lack of understanding over the limitations of my illness.

So, I sat down over the Christmas holidays and i thought, what would make me happy? More time to knit, to write again, things that i choose, not nonsensical essays. And where can i get that, where can I write and get the opinion of people who matter to me? Right here.

Lots of love, Pearl x

Pearl pops in
Mar 5, 2006

Hello all!!

Huge apologies for keep disappearing, really miss you all!!hug

Living in Chichester is brilliant, so much less tiring and you're never stuck for something to do. Quality of life has improved immensely for us all.

Doing well at uni, still love the course and now understand why those kids on university Challenge say they're 'reading' their subject!winkeye Got a 68 (high 2.1) for my first theory essay, and a 58 and 65 for two practical + essay modules.

Even better, there's a new ladies clothing shop opening mid march and I'm the new weekend assistant. I work 4 hours on each Saturday and then another 4 each Sunday, so I can still relax a bit at weekends and keep the week free for lectures and a mammoth amount of rehearsals!

Must sign off now, promise to sort myself out soon, love Pearl xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxhug

Greetings from Chichester
Nov 28, 2005

Hi all!

Apologies for not being around much but I finally moved house on the 10th of November and have been frantically unpacking!

Also all our assessments are coming up at uni next week so I've been a whirlwind.

Thought I'd pop on and say hi, I'll be back soon,

Love to you all, Pearl xoxoxoxoxbiggrin
