Footfoot's page

Hi.

an underwater sheep
This is my page, which just went through some pre-spring cleaning. I'm rather shy, so let's start things off easy.

Me: 24, female, double bass and viola da gamba player "across the pond" in Greensboro, NC (heart of Krispy Kreme country). Vegetarian.

Likes: lots of stuff. Beer, Twister (game), fruits and veggies, recycling, art films, and PUDDING

Hobbies: Knit and crochet-- to date I have turned out hats, scarves, and a pair of baby booties. Next frontier: mittens! As you can see from my page, I also enjoy typing in colored fonts.

Dislikes: Cucumbers, whistling, pantyhose, cockroaches. Recently I'm not very fond of celery either.

Currently trying to learn: Dragon fighting dragon , jazz bass

I often raid my roommates' bookshelves looking for new reads. One of my roomies has a lot of CS Lewis so I've been going through his works and enjoying them very much. So far I've read the Narnia chronicles and "Till We Have Faces" and am now reading "The Screwtapes Letters".

JOURNAL
virgil's crush
May 4, 2006

Virgil, the cat from next door, is always trying to slip into my house. He sits on the porch, waiting for the front door open so he can dash in. Ever since he caught a glimpse of Puddy, my roommate's cat, last fall, he's been especially keen to visit.

Well, Puddy doesn't live here anymore. Horrible cat, though she was box-trained, urinated on nearly every piece of furniture in the house. Becky, my roommate, tried everything but couldn't solve the problem. The smell was horrid and our landlords were pressuring us. So unfortunately Puddy had to go to the shelter last month.

Virgil doesn't know this, however. Tuesday morning he managed to bolt in the door as I stepped out to water the plants. The house still smells somewhat of Puddy, and Virgil followed his nose around the house until he came to Becky's room, where the scent is strongest. He started yowling and pawing under Becky's closed door. When I didn't open the door, Virgil became extremely upset and yowled very loudly. I tried to shoo him out of the house but he hissed and then attacked my bare feet with teeth and claws. All the ruckus woke up my other roommate, Annie, who was able to carry Virgil outside. Good thing too, because Virgil was by that time hiding under the couch, while still attempting to attack my feet (he didn't try to swat at her).

Poor Virgil, suffering from the pangs of unrequited love. I'm not mad at him, although I will make sure I'm wearing shoes next time I see him. He seems awfully bitter at me, though-- I haven't seen him on our porch since. He'll be back soon enough, I expect. He loves chasing the birds in our shrubs.

the meaning of practice
Feb 22, 2006

Today my roommate, who is a clarinetist, and I finally made good on our deal to play jazz together. As we are both quite novices, this makes an ideal pairing. We read through a couple of songs we had been practicing. It was fun! I wasn't nearly as bad as I thought I'd be, and Annie was great. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we are going to make this a weekly thing.

The great thing about weekly practice is that I am practicing towards a goal finally. It gives my daily work a purpose.

another dumb dream
Feb 13, 2006

Last night I dreamed that my spice pantry had been rearranged. I am very proud of my spice pantry, which has the spices arranged in alphabetical order so I can always find what I'm looking for. So I was really peeved, because I couldn't find the spice I was needed-- I think it was chili powder.

More musings from a great creative mind. Unless I have any truly interesting dreams, I won't post any more-- these make terrible journal entries.

stupid dreams
Feb 10, 2006

I used to have really interesting and wacky dreams, which I would post on this journal. Well, now they are deadly dull and usually not cheerful.

Last set of dreams I remember, a few days ago, involved: me eating Cocoa Krispies (I hate Cocoa Krispies); my roommates eating all my peanut butter; and my shower getting gross, malignant, pulsating mildew. This all bothers me-- what is going on inside my head that I have such boring, unhappy dreams? Is all my imagination gone?

Sigh.

weetablog
Feb 7, 2006

I had a coupon for Weetabix, so I bought some. The back of the box says it's "the no. 1 selling cereal in the UK". I've been having mine with a lot of soymilk, so it gets all mushy like oatmeal, and sometimes I'll add raisins. It's pretty good, though a little bland-- nice comfort food.
