ABOUT THIS RESEARCHER

Ingisim - Domestic Goddess
Queen of the Kitchen and Mistress of the Maisonette!

Well, there's more to me than that, although I'm not ashamed of being what many would consider 'just a housewife'. Personally, I prefer to see myself as a 'personal assistant to citizens of the future', caring, as I do, for my two young offspring.

When I get time off from this challenging and rewarding career, I am into (in no particular order of preference), the following:

1) chips;

2) cacti and succulents;

3) reading (fiction and non-fiction). I am a recent convert to Tolkien; I like 19th Century fiction written by consumptive women, and I also enjoy more contemporary fiction: Amy Tan, Iain McEwan and his alter-ego with the 'M', Philip Pullman, Tobias Wolff and Kazuo Ishiguro. My non-fiction tastes include reading shocking biographies and autobiographies (Alan Clark's Diaries are a particular favourite). I am a keen, if untrained and pretty ignorant, student of history.

4) computer games. I frequently find myself lost in the Forgotten Realms(TM), where I battle against the forces of evil and the anally retentive.

5) chocolate (but only on certain days of the month...)

6) films. I am currently reeling (excuse the pun) from the spectactular event that was Fellowship of the Ring, but usually prefer 40s/50s Noir and Westerns starring Clint Eastwood. I love anything by the Coen Brothers, most anything starring Orsen Welles, and I get a not altogether heterosexual kick out of Marylin Monroe. Oh, and anything with Gene Hackman really does it for me, too.

7) music. Classical, Jazz, Punk and The Stone Roses. I'm also becoming sadly reminiscent about the 1980s.

I can't believe that my elder daughter is nine today! That's halfway to being an adult. If she didn't have a very little sister I think I'd feel very old indeed.
