Hello, I am Mr. Cogito (aka Jake) and here's some info about me.

I live and work in New York City, a sleepy little town of several million. Perhaps you've heard of it? Before that, I grew up in Washington, DC before attending MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I have a Masters in Computer Science and a Minor in Literature if you're curious. After I graduated, it was time to move on to a new city, and New York beckoned. New York is not the sitcom wonderland presented on TV (thank god!), but it's a nice city. It has many excellent museums, restaurants, bars, and other attractions. It's an amazing ethnic meltingpot, especially for the curious diner. It's the City That Never Sleeps, although it sometimes takes forever to wake up in the morning. It also is a great city to be a lazy git, because everything is so close together, thanks to the sheer population density. Finally, it's a wonderful city to walk in, and it's filled with all sorts of strange architectural marvels. But I'm beginning to sound like a brochure, so I will shut up now

Anyway, I've now joined the guide with the hopes of filling in some underexplored areas. I probably will write some New York-specific entries, but I'm looking to do more general or eccentric pieces first. I am often present in the Peer Review forums, since I like to help out on the Edited Guide (I used to be a Scout when I had more spare time). Don't be alarmed if I offer constructive criticism on your entries. I'm usually being picky, and I'm always appreciative of your efforts. Sometimes, I'm also involved in Ask H2G2 or the Film Society.
