ABOUT THIS RESEARCHER

Created: 26th August 2000
Revised Improptu intro....
"The bad thing about a first impression is that you only get to make one...." Well, here goes nothing:

I read Douglas Adams as a freshman in highschool, and have loved his stuff since. I remember thinking how cool it would be to be a writer for the Guide, and now as a senior in highschool, i have that chance.

As with some people my age (or maybe more than i think) i am on the journey to self-discovery. Another thing i am trying to understand is the meaning of life...although i don't know if forty-two is the answer i'm looking for....

I suppose I can give you more basic information--i just turned 17 on July 14 (Bastille Day--and my grandfather was born on Independence Day; i just think that's cool). I like pizza and anchovies (though not always combined). I also have a certain appreciation for tuna, if it's bathing in olive oil. I want to be a writer, but don't know if it'll happen. We'll see i guess.

Blah.....
Aug 26, 2000

I had an entry all set up to post on here, and then my computer says that this program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down...grrr. It was really long, and i thought it was okay for a first entry, and then it was gone in seconds.

I had written about my little beanie sea otter. He's sitting on my lap right now, holding a little clam between his paws. I remember the day i got him. We were at this department store called Tico, and when i saw him on a pile of beanie elephants, panda bears, and killer whales, i knew i had to have him. As if i were a child again, i asked my mom if she'd buy him for me. She said yes, and just as i was walking with her to the register, i noticed his right eye was sewn on wrong. I thought about putting him back, but i felt like i'd be deserting him. You see, since i was a child, i've believed that stuffed animals really are alive, and aren't the inanimate objects that they appear to be. Years later, i still have this underlying feeling that they are full of life. So instead of getting another one, i stayed with the little one i had first picked up. I figured we were meant to be.

So i walked out of the store that day with a beanie sea otter named Otto.
