Had a bit of trouble logging in - it kept asking me to agree to the terms and conditions. Is it because I'm a Zaphodista, and they need me to agree every time I log in? Or maybe something's changed, and everybody has to renew their commitment to the rules.

Reminds me of some kind of oath of alliegance that everyone has to swear on a regular basis... brainwashing, I guess. "I hereby and humbly swear that I will do what I am told, and I relinquish my right to think freely..."

Bah.

Back again

Hi all,

It's been a while since I've spent long on h2g2. I don't find I have the time or energy these days. I think the whole moderation/BBC thing has killed the magic of h2g2 for me sadface

I do drop by now and then, occasionally post. But I'm working on my own site at the moment, using Greymatter. If you wouldn't mind testing it for me, I want some feedback about accessibility on various browsers/systems. It relies on Cascading Style Sheets a lot, so I'm worried how that'll be handled by different browsers. I've deliberately minimised the use of graphics, and I've avoided frames completely. This is a learning experience for me: I've got functional HTML skills, but I've never developed anything properly. Hopefully if I can get this to work well I'll have learned a few things about the internet.

Umm... oh, exams at the moment. I've had Australian Political Spectrum, Irish History and Contract Law, with Criminal Law and Torts on Wednesday and Thursday. Then it's holidays - though I may take Legal Ethics and do an internship over the winter break.

Oh well, back to Mentalspace...

Rob.

Couple of days' worth.

OK, here's what I've been doing for the last while.

Got my car back! Yay.. except one of the rear bearings is stuffed and I was warned to get it fixed ASAP in case the wheel falls off - would not be good. But it goes in tomorrow for that job... thank god it'll all be over soon.

Had a meeting today, in part to discuss why posters advertising a gay essay contest were torn down by the Vice Chancellor's command, and why building services used a skeleton key to break into our office and pull things down (including our flag, which we haven't been given back - mind you, we had cut the Union Jack out of it, so they may have thought it was rubbish - I thought it was an improvement). Very interesting stuff.

Can't remember whether I can post here, but the link to the Student Govt page is [URL removed by moderator]
I hope it's not m*******ed, I can't be bothered updating my page...

Got an Irish History assignment due soon. Haven't done any research, photocopied Carita's notes. Hopefully I'll get a better mark than her - amazing what caffeine and adrenaline can do on an all-nighter...

Blah, can't be bothered typing anymore, except to say I'm thinking about editing the Student mag Quasimodo next year....

OH! that's right - time for a rant.

There was a mass/ceremony last night for the Law School. I have basketball umpiring on Wed nights, so I RSVP'd to say I couldn't make it. All good so far.

Got to Uni this morning - "Congratulations, Rob!" (that was 'Manda by the way) What for? "The Legal History prize." I don't know what she's on about, then she explains that last night I won a prize. But wasn't there to receive it.

Why not? Because someone had neglected to tell me. I would have made arrangements to be there, as would my fam. But NO... tptb just decided that the recipients of awards are just not important enough to invite.

Bah.

Tired now, must sleep...

I've been having issues with moderation these last couple of days, and I'm not happy. But I've updated my page a fair bit, downloaded the GuidePost program (search for MaW's page, it has a link), and been invited to join the Utopia Cafebar - go to the incredible marauding pillowcase's page (he's linked in the revolutionary dropdown box...)

Have a nice day...

Rob

Slow process of evolution
May 5, 2001

I've updated my front page a bit, with these new-fangeld drop-down boxes. I'm thinking about a few other things, now, like what to include on the page, which guide entries to write, links and to what, the possibility of changing my user name...

I'm also thinking about starting a webpage off-site where I can do and say a lot more, but I don't know yet.

Probably more important, I'm worried about my addiction. I'm using the Net between 5 and 8 hours a day now, which isn't good. I've so many good books I want to read, but can't concentrate on them...

And my car will be back on Monday! winkeye
