Oh bother - I'm addicted to youtube 4 Days Ago
Well, you know how it starts out, someone links to a youtube video, and then you click on either more videos by the same user, or similar videos, and a hey and a ho and off we go!
My neighbours all probably think I'm insane by now after hearing me laugh maniacally at various videos, preferrably late at night.
Oh yeah, just remembered I need to check a link someone posted in one of my other journals...

Swedish TV commercials 5 Days Ago
There are actually some pretty good ones out there.
One of the best are the ones for ICA (supermarkets, minimarkets etc) where the marketing agency turned it into a soap opera, with new episodes appearing every now and then, following the different characters.
In the latest 'episodes' there's a new character, a young man with Down's syndrome. At first, some people started yelling about PC (Political Correctness) but it turned out the episodes had been done in collaberation with the youth section of the Swedish organization for people with Down's, to increase knowledge and awareness.
And he actually appears as being quite a lot smarter than one of the long-time shopkeeper assistants, who's making a fool of himself treating the young man as if he were an imbecil.
One of the many cool details was when one of the main characters from the TV commercials for another company (Telia) made an appearance in the ICA one.
In short, I love them, and am always looking forward to the next episode.
I'm afraid they're only available in Swedish, as far as I know: http://www.ica.se/FrontServlet?s=bu...=reklamfilmer_ny&showMenu=butiker_4
And then there's Judit & Judit who have also been appearing time and time again in TV commercials for . Recently, they made a cover of famous youtube videos. In this video, they're compared with the original videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ys2YQ9YcuC0

Lord of the Rings online Last Week
After seeing it mentioned in someone's journal (or maybe it was in a conversation thread?) I thought I'd give it a try.
And discovered that I already had tried it out, several months ago.
Still, this time around it seemed there had been some improvements made, and the unofficial RP server not quite so crowded by non-RPing lol kids.
In fact, I got interested enough to try it out 'for real' i.e. with all the features and not only those in the free 10-day trial game.
This turned out to be trickier than I thought. To begin with, when trying to add my payment details I only got four countries to choose from when trying to fill in my address (US, Canada, Australia and NZ).
After searching everywhere in the FAQs and even googling for it, I still couldn't find how to get around this.
I even opened a ticket ingame to ask for help. Without any indication on the ingame screen a GM posted a reply and closed my ticket, something I didn't notice until I went searching for my ticket wondering what had happened to it. The reply? He/she/it couldn't assist me ingame with an account question, I would have to look on the internet - which I already had tried!
Then I discovered I had to fill in a completely different section of my account management page *first*. There was nothing to indicate this anywhere - I had gone straight for 'upgrade'.
Now it tells me I haven't got enough funds on my card. Pah! I went shopping with that very card earlier today, and I can access my card balance online. There *are* enough funds, so there!
So I used their account support function - and now I'm told it might take 1-2 weeks before I receive a reply. Two weeks? My trial account is only valid for playing for three more days.
And to think that in Aion (that has far prettier graphics) I get a reply within 24 hours whenever I report gold selling spammers, confirming that my message has been received and acted upon. And this in a game that immediately got so popular there were logon queues the first couple of weeks after the official release.
So I'm sorry LOTRO, but unless I receive a reply before my trial period expires, you'll miss out on a paying customer.

'Safe' rather than 'harmless'? 2 Weeks Ago
I've been pretty peeved for many, many years about how people seem to consider me as 'harmless' but lately I've been thinking that maybe it's rather about looking 'safe' rather than 'harmless'?
See, infants trust me, and they're hardly likely to know what 'harmless' is, right? But I bet they know what 'safe' is.
About being the go-to person at w*rk, the persons (pretty much everyone, sooner or later) know I won't ever ridicule them for asking what might seem like rather stupid questions (and sometimes they are!) so they feel safe asking *me*.
Damn, it slippped away - the very thought that triggered this posting! Where did you go, little bugger?
*settles down*
*breathes in*
*holds breath*
*breathes out*
Nope - maybe I'll remember it tomorrow

The Wanderer 2 Weeks Ago
The wanderer has nowhere left to go once he's reached the end. The moon dyes all shadows blue, he's left out there alone.
Far away from a distant farm, the warmth shining out into the night. Wakes the hunger in his frozen body, that's been feeding on air and water.
Despite the pain, keep on walking, you can always turn around. Despite the pain, keep on walking, you are here and you came as a wanderer.
The bell tolls for a lonely soul, it has borrowed its voice from death. Will it evil or will it good, when it coounts our destinies.
Stop brooding, it's hard enough without, you must take one day at the time. The wanderer has nowhere left to go, if he leaves at the last battle.
