All Change...
For Starters:

Ok we seem to be back up and running on the good ship British Broadcasting Corporation... But is that neccesarily a good thing?

We've now joined a massive corporation that prides itself of being accurate, clean, up-to-date, and strictly governed... Now, the guide is going to be squeaky clean... Doesn't that bother any of you because it scares the living padré out of me...

People always swore on the guide, people always stoked up confrontation... It was good, honest fun and it exercised you mind. Now, you can't do that, I take it you've read the House Rules and all the beeb spiel... I always enjoyed a good expletive to emphasise my point... To combat the clampdown on swearing, I have created a new swear-word that hasn't been recognised by the authorities yet:

...Smutch.

Doesn't it sound good? winkeye

Another thing, I have other hobbies other than the guide, and other websites i'd like people to see and enjoy, and now the beeb won't allow us to put external url's on our pages... To remedy this, I could put my ICQ no. up here, but I really don't want to do that, security reasons and so forth... email? Spam.

Let's just see how it goes... I have got a feeling however, that the transition to the beeb is going to go smoothly...

Spleen vented? Good. Now on to the usual user stuff yadda yadda yadda...

Ok,

Name: James Lawford
Age: 18
Location: Hereford, UK

I'm a college student, a Dire Straits and Genesis fan. I have teeth, hair, and skin... What more could anyone ask for?

I'm also a member of the Herefordshire (college's) reknowned 'H-TEAM' I would put the url in, but i'm not allowed... Just... um... well... errr... The site isn't that good anyway... winkeye

It is on Geocities if you are bored enough to search for it though...

Captains Log? Too corny...

Anyway, a clean start and a whole new way of writing entries with poor grammar.

How long has it been... A good couple of... somethings...

I dunno, but I mean since h2g2 has been down, I've lost my job, got a social life (all h2g2's fault for going off for so ling) plus Eomando and Paul Prefect have gotten engaged to be married (what else?) Congratulations btw! The H-Team cortegé is still available... We only need two things:
1. A location (Preferably the real one) winkeye
2. New tyres... We like to go in stlye... and grip...
(supplemental: It's best if E doesn't go in my car, she has a habit of making it not work...) winkeye

So, let's see what the future brings...

Hmmmm....
Nov 9, 2000

Strange that... Sever all contact and take a break from h2g2, due to none of my entries being looked at, let alone edited... and my Brian May entry suddenly pops up on the front page... and now my Genesis entry is being resubbed... Weird... I guess posting this means i'll go back to my usual blaze of obscurity... winkeye

The Fuel Crisis and it's effect on Hereford
Sep 14, 2000

To start off with, I fully support the protestors and think that the cost of fuel in the UK is criminal, and a tax cut should most definately be considered, perhaps even before the next budget. However, it is slightly worrying to see it's effects on the rural county of Herefordshire. Being rural, a car is almost vital to be able to do anything and if you've read my entry on Hereford's bus system, you'll get a good idea of what Herefordian public transport is like... And since the buses depend on petrol as well, their services are being compromised as well... This means that people have resorted to using bicycles...

This is the nub of the problem... People who use bikes in Hereford on a daily basis don't have any consideration to other road users and will alternate from pavement to road without and hand-signals and will not even look. These are people who use bikes everyday, I must stress.

Now, it is the people who have used their car on a daily basis since God-knows-when and now, since their tanks have run dry, they have taken to their bikes... These bikes are from what i've seen, not fit for anything apart from the scrap heap. Rusted, buckled wheels, chains and gears which have a six year head start over us for lack of oil... winkeye

The riders themselves are an incredible danger to themselves and other road users... Everyday cyclists can keep up a steady, rythmic pace yet these people alternate from mad dashes to half a mile an hour crawls... Wobbling is standard and these people should try and take these facts into consideration...

Me? Well, when my tank runs out, i'm going to walk the six miles into college...
I haven't seen my bike for at least a decade.... winkeye
