The <BLOCKQUOTE> denotes a blockquote. Blockquotes are used to indent text and are particularly useful for quoting chunks of text, poems, and song lyrics.

Syntax and Usage

<BLOCKQUOTE>...quote...</BLOCKQUOTE>

The <BLOCKQUOTE> tag acts like the paragraph tag <P> in that it denotes a paragraph of block-quoted text. In other words treat <BLOCKQUOTE> tags like specialised <P> tags and do not nest <BLOCKQUOTE> blocks inside paragraphs.

Known Issues

None.

Example

The most striking of all the impressions I have formed since I left London a month ago is of the strength of this African national consciousness. In different places it may take different forms, but it is happening everywhere. The wind of change is blowing through this continent. Whether we like it or not, this growth of national consciousness is a political fact.
- Harold Macmillan, First Earl of Stockton
former English Prime Minister
