I use Mozilla at home and haven't seen a pop-up advert since I started using it. It's bliss.

I use mozilla firebird too
have not seen a pop up for ages
can block images & banner ads
and have an extension that replaces all flash objects with button so don't get all those annoying animations.
I find mozilla & mozilla firebird much better browsers than i.e. now I have got used to them, especially since they have tabbed browsing and are open source.
